Immigration protesters block Los Angeles street

Unidentified immigrant rights activists and community leaders engage in non-violent civil disobedience, by chaining themselves together with lockdown PVC devices, in protest of Arizona's recently enacted SB1070 immigration enforcement law, outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Federal Processing and Detention Center, on Thursday, May 6, 2010, in Los Angeles.

They are demanding no more enforcement...no detentions. They had to be dragged away by the police.

I saw this story on our local news. Instead of a 'tea party', they held a 'pity party'.

Los Angeles police have arrested more than a dozen protesters who chained themselves together on a downtown street to protest Arizona's new immigration law.

Protest spokesman Nelson Motto says 14 activists locked themselves in a circle Thursday afternoon and lay down in front of federal immigration detention center, blocking traffic for about four hours.

Dozens of helmeted officers surrounded the demonstrators before declaring an unlawful assembly and making arrests. No injuries were reported.

City attorney spokesman John Franklin says the 14 demonstrators will be charged with interfering with police work and failure to disperse.

The demonstrators oppose Arizona's new law and say illegal immigrants now in the U.S should be legalized.

Oh if I were in charge- use a cattle prod to get them on their feet then march them to Mexico. If some are U.S. citizens or citizens of other countries- oh well they shouldn’t have been involved.
