Bond angrily blasts attorney general for withholding intel on Times Square attack
The Hill ^ | May 8, 2010 | Michael O'Brien

The top GOP member of the Senate Intelligence Committee blasted Attorney General Eric Holder on Saturday for having allegedly refused to brief senators on last weekend's attempted Times Square bombing.

Sen. Kit Bond (R-Mo.), the ranking member of the intelligence panel, accused Holder of obstructing congressional inquiries into the attempted attack.

"It seems Attorney General Holder is only interested in looking tough on terrorism on TV since he’s now told the intelligence community to skirt the national security law and give only the details he wants and when to Congress," Bond said Saturday.

Both Bond and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), the chairwoman of the Intelligence committee, said earlier this week that the administration had not made clear to them how Faisal Shahzad, the suspect in the attempted attack in New York, was interrogated and handled after having been arrested late Monday night.

A Bond spokesperson said the senator had a ten-minute phone conversation with an intelligence official about the issue on Tuesday following Holder's press conference to announce Shahzad's arrest. But since then, the spokesperson said, Bond has been unable to get additional briefings or details.

Bond had specifically been looking for information on whether a special interrogation team, the High-Value Interrogation Group (HIG), was brought in to question Shahzad following his arrest. The Department of Justice, Bond's spokesperson said, has so far refused to turn over the charter and activities of the HIG, as well as information on the intelligence used to determine the release of terror suspects from the detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

"The Department of Justice continues to play political games with national security - withholding information on this terrorist to Congressional intell leaders is just the latest obstruction," Bond said Saturday.

Holder will make the administration's case for handling terror suspects during appearances on ABC and NBC on Sunday morning.

Looks like Obama and Holder feel it's much more important to go on Sunday talk shows to tell us what a good job they're doing rather than keep the Senate Intel Committee informed.

I'm wondering why they didn't post his picture....They knew who they were looking for.

Suppose the guy had another car rigged someplace else...or in his pants.

Good question, it seems Obama is concentrating on covering all the mistakes made.

Holder is going on TeeVee instead of to Congress.

Remember all the coverage Pelosi got when she said (lying) that Congress wasn't briefed by Bush's CIA?

This administration and the MSM are GARBAGE!!

Did anyone else see Holder refer to the TS perp as a “gentleman” in front of Congress last week? Unreal.

Has Holder explained to Congress, among other things, why Barack Hussein Obama took Faisal Shahzad off the terrorist watch list last year?

Or has he explained how many other Muslim terrorists have been taken off the terrorist watch list?

I suppose they needed to make more room for Tea Party attendees, pro lifers, and Huttaree militia members, who are currently in prison being denied their rights against the judge’s orders.

Exactly what I said, on the first day. How come they released the key information that they knew who the terrorist was, causing him to run, but did not release his photo in a wanted poster, which might have helped catch him?

And then the FBI somehow lost him in Connecticut when he ran for the airport. Are they really that dumb? Or was it on purpose?

How I would love to see a letter pop up wherein Obama gave a letter of reference to Hassan....whether personally or via one of his “team”...I just know he’s connected...

Until everyone understands Holder only represents people that hate this country and not real Americans this will continue to be a question.

All good points and while this is all being withheld from Congress the POTUS is referring to Patriots in our country as “teabaggers.” I can’t properly express my disdain for this turkey here.

They have this "credit" problem. They want to track him without giving anyone credit. They want the win.

Remember the unabomber...he made elaborate wood carved boxes for his explosives...information that the FBI held from the public...they would have caught him much sooner....because it's such a rare talent.

Anyways, I think his brother knew all along.

Wall Street bombing 1920 - [NYC and terrorists]

President Woodrow Wilson faced trying times. The nation had come through the slaughter of World War I, followed by the even more deadly Spanish Flu pandemic. Returning soldiers clashed with immigrants for jobs, the newspapers were full of stories of labor unrest and general strikes, wages didn’t keep up with inflation, deadly race riots broke out in Chicago and St. Louis, wartime shortages for essentials like sugar persisted and crime was rapidly on the increase. As if that wasn’t enough, small but vocal groups of socialists, communists and anarchists fervently preached the downfall of the corrupt capitalist system and the coming revolution of the proletariat. Wilson, kept a clamp on vocal opposition to the war by passing the Espionage Act, which prescribed prison terms and fines for anyone who spoke out against conscription, criticized the armed forces, or otherwise gave aid and comfort to the enemy Hun. The 1917 Espionage Act was followed by the Sedition Act of 1918 which forbid ‘’disloyal, profane, scurrilous or abusive language,’’ against the U.S. government. These laws were still in force in the summer of 1919 when Wilson appointed fellow Democrat A. Mitchell Palmer as his attorney general. Several months later, Wilson was felled by a stroke and was incapacitated for the remainder of his presidency. Many of the nation’s problems fell to Palmer, including the problem of what to do about the radicals, many of whom were immigrants to the country.

What recourse and redress does Congress have against Holder? A LETTER? Like the Court will not jumpto 0’s defense.

Please.

“Shahzad, who is the son of a former high-ranking Pakistani military officer.”

Good to know.

Pakistani military,
ISI,
AQ,
AQ in Yemen/SW Asia.

Now, where exactly in Pakistan was a certain 1981 trip? Is the ‘former roommate’ & family connected?

I still contend that ()bama knew this kid’s family from when he was visiting Pakistan on his Indonesian Passport while attending Occidental College.

I have no documented proof. It just seems too convenient that he’s being shielded by both ()bama AND Holder.

We’re not being told something that’s vital to this story and the appropriate resulting prosecution for the crime.

The boy is either going to miraculously commit suicide while in lock up OR be extradited to Pakistan before there’s a trial. ()bama can’t have the truth about himself become public knowledge.

I knew that...I'm looking for a letter that says...this guy is a little nuts...and another that says he was associated with Obama so tread carefully....

My gut tells me there was real communication associated with Obama and it's why he got the promotion.

And, in a maybe not totally unrelated case ... has the PanAm/Lockerbie bomber who was released from the Scottish prison last year because of a terminal illness actually died, or is he living in the lap of Middle Eastern luxury? As I recall he was only weeks to live, but was quite alive a few months later.
