Remember when the MSM went crazy over [and likely exaggerated] George H.W.'s supposed unfamiliarity with a supermarket scanner? Pres. Obama has now had his supermarket-scanner moment, claiming he doesn't know how to operate an iPod, among other popular electronic devices. Do you think the MSM will pick on this in the same way to paint a portrait of an out-of-touch president?
Addressing the graduating class at Hampton University today, PBO said:

The scanner in question was a new model that could scan a torn bar code in several pieces.

The bar codes sometime get torn/smeared/stained in product transit. Previously this made them unreadable. With a new fuzzy-logic algorithm, scanners suddenly could consistently read such bars with only PART of the data they previously needed.
For this reason GW Sr. exclaims, “Well, I’ll be..! How about that..!”
But from the way they filmed it, he appears stupidly delighted by something the common Joe had long since accepted.

An iPod is essentially a music toy. You are either into music or you are not.
Everybody in America, however, eats. Almost everybody in America has recently shopped for food at a supermarket.
George H.W.'s comment made him look elitist since he demonstrated he had not set foot in a food store for years.

The president spoke about the King of Pop, who died on June 25, during an interview at the White House yesterday.
