Manning says he can prove Obummer didn’t take any actual classes at Columbia, meaning he received a degree without doing any of the actual work.

Manning seeks to prove a negative. That's a tall order, even for Manning. Zero won't notice. He has bigger fish to fry (passing his agenda before the Tea Partiers neuter him, getting a second term). Zero's peeps can shoot Manning down simply by showing that somebody remembers Zero taking a class at Columbia. QED. Not a wise fight to pick.

That said, I don’t think FERPA precludes a university confirming that a student attended, the time frame and non-controversial details such as date and type of degree received and perhaps college major.

Well, for what it's worth, their alumni website always lists him as "Barack Obama, '83," as far back as his 2004 speech at the Democratic convention.
