Incumbent Sen. Robert Bennett (R-Utah) was ousted Saturday from his state’s Republican primary by caucus voters fed up with big government spending, "stimulus," bailouts and the passage of Obamacare -- for starters.
His ouster from the primary is proof GOP voters are not limiting their ire to Democrats.
Bennett has been a big spender over his 18 years in the Senate, consistently voting to the left of his constituency. And from the red state of Utah that’s not a plan for lifetime Senate employment.
When first elected back in 1992, Bennett pledged he would term-limit himself and serve no more than two terms. That was three terms ago -- now seeking a fourth.
Bennett also offered an alternative health care bill with co-sponsor Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) that included its own unconstitutional coverage mandate. He continues to defend his bill that is in many ways indistinguishable from Obamacare.

To read the comments about this in the Salt Lake Tribune, one would think that the delegates and voters of Utah are a few steps to the right of the Taliban, minus double digit IQ points.
One concern is that the Republicans may be exchanging a squishy compromising big spender for a trial lawyer. We could really stand to reduce the number of lawyers in elected office by 90%.

Public office in the U.S. has become like the Ring of Power in Lord of the Rings. Once they have it, they NEVER want to let go. And it corrupts them eventually by its power.

I guess it shows that if the choice is a liberal Mormon and a conservative non-Mormon that Utah will go with the Mormon. But if it's two Mormons, they will go with the most conservative.

Its LDS first and foremost, the rest doesn’t matter, otherwise there would not be such rabid support for MR.
He's been fired.
However, if the GOP “needs” Utah to win the presidential election it’s all over because they don’t have a chance.
They let him keep doing it for 18 years. I'm not just picking on Utah voters. Voters throughout the U.S. have been sitting on their haunches too long. Toss 'em out!

The SL Tribune, is one of the few places that blue shaded morons can spout off with impunity in the reddest of states about, Mormons, polygamy, and Republicans, all of which they (fill in the blank) with equal fervor. That could be one reason they are so bent out of shape when Bennett got canned. He was one of their own.
The other place is Park City. You’ve got all those Hollyweird Libs, hiding up in Deer Vally. They feel very put upon when they go down to Heber, which is the closest airport...
He IS a lame duck now.
