JERUSALEM (AFP) Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Tuesday accused nuclear power North Korea of supplying Syria with weapons of mass destruction.
Lieberman's office quoted him as telling Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama at a meeting in Tokyo that such activity threatened to destabilise east Asia as well as the Middle East.
"The cooperation between Syria and North Korea is not focused on economic development and growth but rather on weapons of mass destruction" Lieberman said.
In evidence he cited the December 2009 seizure at Bangkok airport of an illicit North Korean arms shipment which US intelligence said was bound for an unnamed Middle East country.
Lieberman said Syria intended to pass the weapons on to the Lebanese Hezbollah militia and to the Islamic Hamas movement, which rules Gaza and has its political headquarters in Damascus.
"This cooperation endangers stability in both southeast Asia and also in the Middle East and is against all the accepted norms in the international arena," Lieberman was quoted as telling Hatoyama.
Thai officials at the time said that acting on a tipoff from Washington they confiscated about 30 tonnes of missiles, rocket-propelled grenades and other weapons when the North Korean plane landed for refuelling in Bangkok.

NK has been helping Syria with developing chemical weapons and creating warhead to be fitted into missiles.
I’ve always suspected WMD shipments to Syria from Iraq.
The absolute silence and lack of outrage from Syria after the Israeli attack was all the proof anyone needed the Syrians were up to no good.
If there’s ever a shipping of WMDs anywhere, its always to Syria. Syria must be the central depot.
I was thinking about this the other night and I got a chill up my spine. You know how Obama treats our historic allies like garbage and then bows to our enemies?
Is it up to the Executive Branch to decide WHO we share our military tech secrets with?
They do. Their subs.

N. Korean rail explosion foiled missile shipment to Syria
Tuesday, May 18, 2004A North Korean missile shipment to Syria was halted when a train collision in that Asian country destroyed the missile cargo and killed about a dozen Syrian technicians.
U.S. officials confirmed a report in a Japanese daily newspaper that a train explosion on April 22 killed about a dozen Syrian technicians near the Ryongchon province in North Korea. The officials said the technicians were accompanying a train car full of missile components and other equipment from a facility near the Chinese border to a North Korea port.
A U.S. official said North Korean train cargo was also believed to have contained tools for the production of ballistic missiles. North Korea has sold Syria the extended-range Scud C and Scud D missiles, according to reports by Middle East Newsline.
"The way it was supposed work was that the train car full of missiles and components would have arrived at the port and some would have been shipped to Syria while others would have been transported by air," an official said.
Officials said the North Korean shipment to Syria was not meant to have contained chemical or biological weapons. They said foreign rescue crews summoned to the train explosion did not report any chemical contamination.
The explosion was said to have been caused by a collision of two trains. The collision downed an electrical power line, the sparks from which detonated the fuel from the train.
On May 4, the Tokyo-based Sankei Shimbun quoted a military source that reported the death of the Syrian technicians. The newspaper said North Korean military personnel, wearing protective suits, removed the vestiges of the destroyed equipment meant for Syria.
The technicans were representatives of Syria's Center for Scientific Research, which has been cited for helping develop that country's weapons of mass destruction program. The technicians were said to have been trained in North Korea to operate the equipment.
Sankei said the bodies of the Syrians were flown home by a Syrian aircraft, which had arrived in Pyongyang to deliver aid supplies. The newspaper said North Korean personnel were also killed in the explosion.
Obama has proven he has zero loyalty to this nation. He and his people now have access to America’s greatest held classifieds. And he’s already proven how reckless he is with these secrets by announcing to the world the number of nukes we own. Lord only knows what’s going on behind closed doors and being revealed to our enemies.
Israel needs to decapitate Syria, but will they do it before or after doing same to Iran.
They're called submarines, I think.
“Israel says N.Korea shipping WMDs to Syria”
Dear Bibi,
If you have a sub, use it.
Grunthor
Of course they are. During Bush’s term, they intercepted numerous vessels. Obama might as well be paying the shipping fees for them.
I read all the headlines and it really looks like this is all coming to a head. I don’t see this ending well for anyone. I can’t believe humans can be this stupid - AGAIN.
History repeating itself. Oh well.
Yep, ever since the failed "Food for Oil" con. Those are my suspicions also
The History Channel did a lengthy piece which showed trucks moving in the dark of night with load after load and intimated they saw them going into Syria shortly before the Iraw war broke out. I tried to locate the piece afterward and it appears it had been removed.
Ping to a few folks here...
It would seem this might be related in some ways to the warning Major General Paul E. Vallely put out ( http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2510680/posts ).
I don’t doubt that Syria AND Iran are perhaps supplying Hezbollah.
The “alliance” I’ve spoken of between these “former” Communist countries and the Islamic Theocracies is more apparent as also in the news today (don’t know if it’s been posted here yet, or not as I just got online), Russia has announced it wants to help Syria build a Nuclear Power Plant... (Not as if that is really that surprising.)
Sounds like Israel is under a major threat of attack from “all sides” at this point. Definitely might lead to Damascus being turned into a sheet of glass... IMHO.
Prayers for Israel and all her people, as well as the innocent and God-fearing people of all nations...
I remember that - not the History Channel show, but the movement of trucks from Iraq to Syria... IIRC, one of the “kids” at Google trained their satellite on the area out of curiosity and saw the long line of trucks crossing the border.
Forgot to ping you to my post at #19 on this thread...
BIG HMMMMM
Thx.
AH! Now I understand the reasoning behind the forthcoming prophesy in Isaiah 17....concerning the ultimate fate of Damascus. That's going to be a very unhealthy place to live, soon, methinks.
RE: Ive always suspected WMD shipments to Syria from Iraq.
You are so right. In 2004 we followed a rail link to a road that headed straight into Syria. The tracks were shiny and the road looked like it was heavily used. We did not penetrate the Syrian airspace but stopped at the border. We all agreed that this was how Saddam got the WMD out of Iraq.
Get a copy Of General Sada’s book “Saddam’s Secrets”. He is quite detailed on how the all the weapons were transported out of Iraq into Syria.
There were a couple of areas up in Mosul and way down in Tallil in 2004 that we were advised to steer clear of..............
.
bttt
Thanks for the info. Yeah, Mosul was not a good place. I remember a suicide bomber got access to the DFAC and killed a bunch of guys.
I remember watching that
Probably one of two things, there were WMD's in Iraq and anything that will prove it will exonerate bush and all the UN who decided to pretend Iraq never had them, or two, our JSOC and others KNOW about the movements but don't want them to know we know, therefore we or israel just wipes out their reactors when they have the most invested like a few years ago. What troubles me is I've learned of the gas tipped Syrian missiles for years( not a secret) but as you say, some things on the news and on the net just disappear( sort of like Obama's past).
For instance I remember a sort of a flat bed truck with huge panels the Jordanian's stopped at their border when we re attacked Iraq, which was in the LA Times. I even kept the cut out but somehow lost it and to this day I cannot find the photo or the article but I KNOW I saw it in print.
Bottles of liquid and gas containers floppily thrown together. It'll probably never be seen again because we all know( insert my cynical wink wink) Iraq never had WMD's or Al Qaeda, just ask the Kurds and all th Persian's in the 80's that died of, well, a mystery
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

"Islamic Economics and the Final Jihad: The Muslim Brotherhood to the Leftist/Marxist - Islamist Alliance"
by David J. Jonsson.
Some of his other writings are hosted on my site. His detailing of Shariah finance is mind-numbingly boring, but when he gets into the global economic co-operatives rising against American global economic dominance, it reveals a lot of the motivation for the move's these government are making against usand Israel.
Bottom line, Israel is an American outpost in the middle of an area of the world some very bad people want to see stripped of any American influence or presence at all.
I know it is more sophisticated than that, temporally and spiritually, but more often or not, wars are fought over economic issues.
I appreciate your remarks and agree that one day the truth will prevail. But I doubt I shall be on planet earth when it happens.
Doubt I will either. Too many redactions.
Thank you very much for the recommendation. I wouldn’t mind at all understanding the in-depth economic aspects of this alliance more fully. I’ve seen it developing for a few years now, but beyond the obvious enemy of my enemy is my friend aspect of it I don’t think people are as aware of the underlying “real world” issues — and that includes ME! LOL Thanks again, and I will definitely look into getting that book! :)
Anyway, I can say after I read it (and I'm sure there are others out there as well), when reading the daily news, you find yourself going "Ah, ha" knowing what is behind the trends of global events and national decisions.
The alliance Ive spoken of between these former Communist countries and the Islamic Theocracies is more apparent as also in the news today (dont know if its been posted here yet, or not as I just got online), Russia has announced it wants to help Syria build a Nuclear Power Plant... (Not as if that is really that surprising.)<<<<
It is becoming more visable each day.
Once again, we fight russia, but call the enemy by a different name....as we did in N.Korea, Viet Nam and other locations....
