CHICAGO - The 7th Circuit Court of appeals has denied a request by defense attorneys for former Governor Blagojevich to delay the start of this trial.
His defense team said the trial should not start until after the Supreme Court rules on the constitutionality of the so-called "honest services" fraud law, otherwise Blagojevich could not receive a fair trial.
That law gives the public the right to have officials serve honestly. It is being challenged elsewhere around the country.
Blagojevich is accused of violating it.
The appeals court ruled if Blagojevich was only accused of violating the "honest services" fraud law it would have considered the appeal more seriously.
However, the court said because he faces other charges it could not grant the appeal.

I don’t care about this guy unless he wants to do the right thing in taking Obama down.
I remember he said he was going to take others down with him. Knowing him...I can see it happening. He will not down alone. This is gonna be an interesting trial to say the least.
I seen to many “sorry; but no cigar” traps.
could be but ya never know.
I only hope he takes the right people with him.
I hope you are completely correct. I expect that the entire chicago mob will be on trial in some degree. I look forward to it because I don’t think Blago is going down alone.
We think the same. He will not go down without a fight. He’s pretty sure of what he is talking about. Can’[t wait.
Oh absolutely...us too.
