Pekin, Ind. - A U.S. Census worker has been charged with rape and burglary, after two women in southern Indiana claim they were attacked. One of the victims was a 21 year-old physically handicapped woman. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, he had been with the agency for two weeks.
The attack occurred Saturday morning in Pekin, Indiana in Washington County.
Police said the man broke in while a mother and daughter slept and attacked them. According to investigators, the mother had taken a mild sleeping pill. The man, identified as 39 year-old Daniel Miller, was arrested following the incident. He said he worked for the government.
Four days before the attack, neighbors in the area say they saw Miller in the area on census business. The victim told police Miller had asked about their census information. She said they had already submitted the form. She also told police that Miller stuck around and tried to get more details.

"It's unbelievable that somebody could do something like that and not have a conscience and worry about it," said resident Debbie Bishop.
Miller's apartment is located right across the road from a middle school. When a news crew knocked on the door of his apartment, another man answered. He did not want to go on camera or be identified, however, he did say Miller had two daughters of his own.
Miller was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, held on a $150,000 bond.
There are about 635,000 U.S. Census workers currently going door to door counting Americans who did not return their surveys. They will carry white badges with blue writing. The badges do not have photos. Census workers should also be carrying black canvas shoulder bags and brochures printed in 51 languages. If asked, the census takers are supposed to give you a supervisor's number to call.
“I’m from the government, and I’m here to rape you.”
It appears the Commerce Dept. is hiring the cream of the crop to be census works. They must be getting their guidance from TSA.
Aparently, Obama has no scruples with regard to hiring criminals and miscreants. These people deserve work too!
So they are demanding more than just how many live there.
If you didn’t invite them, don’t open the door. Period.
So is it a saved or created job?
How would this information have been any help whatsoever to the rape victims of an actual census worker? If called, his supervisor would only have confirmed his legitimate employment.
Shoulda mailed back that Census form! /sarc
That worker must have mistakenly thought he worked for the IRS.
Sorry for the victims but we’ve all been virtually screwed for years.
Just listened to a tv ad that said something like “open your door to the census worker”....You’d think they’d pull that ad in light of this.
Probably the same background check used for Van Jones.
U.S. Census Bureau spokesman Stephen Buckner confirms Miller started working for the agency two weeks prior to the alleged attack, but says he underwent a thorough background check prior to being hired.”
Riiiiiiiiight...they’ve done 650,000 THOROUGH background checks....please...
FWIW, I don’t believe that the Feebies are routinely conducting backround checks on census worker applicants, either.
I wish the census worker had that in mind for me!
She was smokin’ hot!
All applicants for temporary Census jobs go through a pre-appointment name check against the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Justice Information Services Divisions Name Index. This means that the FBI database is searched to see if it contains a criminal history record file that matches an applicants name, date of birth, and social security number. This criminal history record file contains records of individuals that have been arrested and fingerprinted.
They're supposed to do it. I wonder how often it really gets done.
“FWIW, I dont believe that the Feebies are routinely conducting backround checks on census worker applicants, either.”
Let alone THOROUGH background checks...this is so sick.
