Your fries may never taste the same again!

For the first time in 40 years, Heinz ketchup is changing its famous recipe -- by lowering the salt content in an effort to appeal to more health-conscious consumers, the company said yesterday.

Its hard to make your own ketchup because it involves pressure cookers.

What, they can’t have a low sodium version and keep the original?

I’ve made my own - no pressure cooker. It tastes good, but tends to be watery.

This attack on our food is the natural next step for the anti-smoking NAZIs.

I hope all of the morons that railed against smokers will enjoy having the feds tell them what they can and can't eat.

So not even a choice? Low salt or 'classic'? Give me a break. Too bad, the once great American brands, are willing to become food apparatchiks for the State.

It is all so pathetic. Salt is far less dangerous than the ideas these people put forth in the name of Nannyism aka 'Food Marxism 101'.

"The catalyst . . . came from the changing needs of our consumers and our commitment to health and wellness."

Silly me. I thought manufacturers were in business to make products people WANT, not to guess about what you think they need.

Kowtowing to the government health god.

Man......I hope this bites them right on their round, rosy-red ta-MAto.

Won’t be buying it. I’ve found the store brands to be just as tasty.

THIS SUCKS!!! I don’t eat a ton of ketchup, but when I do it HAS to be Heinz. This is one of those rare products (IMO) for which there is no true substitute.

SCREW the nanny state bullsh!t. NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE ANYHOW.

PS...good thing there’s no salt in beer!!!!

Easy, stop buying anything Heinz sells. Maybe they’ll get the message.

Oh great. Not only will the small amounts of catsup we consume not taste good, but also there will be more food poisoning. Women, infants, and the elderly hardest hit.

Good, I hope the new product sucks and they go out of business so the owner, Teresa Heinz-Kerry won’t be able to support her husband, John Kerry D-MA, continued terror in MA any more. I can only pray for this! I already boycott all Heinz products.

"they’re just trying to cut cost..."

Interesting theory, but I disagree. Salt is cheaper than dirt...I bet there is less than 1 cent savings per bottle. This reminds me of Proctor & Gamble changing their logo because people thought it offensive or occultic. They should have left it alone.

This whole healthy food crap is really getting on my nerves.

I am a damn good cook and I cook how and when I want to. My kids are all at very healthy weights. Most have wonderfully developed palates that are not hooked on fast food. My wife is a stay at home Mom but I do most of the cooking.

I believe that the problem lies in the fact that people do not cook anymore and kids palates get very accustomed to food from a box or a drivethru. It becomes hard to eat good food if all you have ever had is Helper and Mac-n-cheese.

But there is tons of sugar in beer.

Any taste generating substance will become under fire.
