For the first time in 40 years, Heinz ketchup is changing its famous recipe -- by lowering the salt content in an effort to appeal to more health-conscious consumers, the company said yesterday.

I'd like to see one letter from a customer asking Heinz to reduce the salt. This is being forced from above on a public that doesn't want this kind "change".
I hope there's a backlash. Hunts needs to start a campaign to unseat Heinz. Their slogan could be "Heinz. The incumbent ketchup."
I guess we could just unscrew the cap and add a pinch of salt.
Rationed health care is dangerous - and will be deadly for many of us - much more deadly than a few grains of salt.

I just went on the Heinz website and asked whether it was customers or “nanny state” pressure. Also asked them to consider two versions of the product, using the “classic” label that someone mentioned above.

In days past when I wanted soup, I would reach for Cambells...not anymore. Since started using that damned sea salt it tastes like crap.
Yeah, they’re going to be sneaky about it. They’re just going to quietly make the change. There won’t be a low salt and a classic version, since that would tip off the public. Instead it will be stealthy like a VAT tax.
This ketchup thing really is a great illustration of what liberalism is. It would be a great teaching tool for Rush.
What in-house brand of ketchup tastes best? I usually just buy Heinz. Since they plan on f-ing up the classic taste, I will start looking around now for a new ketchup. I will appreciate any and all suggestions.

I am restricting sodium intake due to high blood pressure.
However, not everyone is in my situation. I only ask for alternative low sodium products or stay away from canned items which are mega-sodium. I don’t want the government to force people into a one-size-fits-all recipe.
I dont know if it is so much a capitulation to pressure from Obama. I believe many of these companies realize that trial lawyers have food companies in their crosshairs and are taking preemptive measures.
Even Heinz Ketchup comes in a "no salt added" variety
Why the heck can't the folks who want no/low sodium buy that one?!
