The Ash Cloud Is Shutting Down British Airports Again

At this point you can call Eyjafjallajokull a protracted economic problem for the UK, if not the rest of Europe.
The volcano is still spewing with no end in sight. British transportation authorities have warned they may shut down airspace from Sunday through Tuesday.
Daily Mail:
The prediction of closures from tomorrow until Tuesday morning is based on continuing volcanic activity in Iceland and prevailing weather conditions.
The Department of Transport said: 'Within this time frame, different parts of UK airspace - including airspace in the South East - are likely to be closed at different times.'
Ash issues could really screw over British Airways, which is already facing 20 days of employee strikes over the summer.

And yet we need to pass the emissions test before we can register our cars.

Iceland president tells Europe to get ready for Katla
(Short Video) - The eruption of the Eyjafjallajoekull volcano, and the travel chaos it has caused, is only a “small rehearsal,” according to Iceland’s President Olafur Grimsson.
“The larger Katla volcano, right next to it, usually erupts every century, and the last eruption was in 1918. The time for Katla to erupt is coming close.”
“I don’t say if, but I say when Katla will erupt,” Grimsson says. “We have been waiting for that eruption for several years.”
“It can create, for a long period, extraordinary damage to modern advanced society.”

Yes and no. Think about who gets to charge $50+ a crack to test your emissions. Can anyone do it? No, not here in CA, where only a few hand-picked stations have that very lucrative privilege. It's a government-mandated shakedown racket.
