ABC’s Hasselbeck Recommends Conservatives Stop ‘Hating’ on Gay Marriage
Newsbusters.org ^ | 05/15/2010 | Brad Wilmouth

On Thursday’s The View on ABC, during a discussion of Laura Bush’s recent revelation that she disagrees with her husband on the issues of abortion and same-sex marriage, normally right-leaning co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck voiced agreement with the former First Lady, but also used a surprising choice of words as she recommended that conservatives talk to gay couples about the issue rather than "hating" about it. Hasselbeck:

I think there are a lot of, maybe, conservatives out there who are talking about gay marriage and not necessarily with someone who wants to have gay marriage or has been in a gay marriage. You know, I had Melissa Etheridge over, we had dinner, we talked for hours about gay marriage, and I would really challenge people: Get out there. Instead of just talking about it and hating on it, actually talk to someone who’s loved someone else and have the conversation about what can be done...

This of course on the heels of her comments about outlawing MacDonald's Happy Meals because their existence makes it too hard for mothers to give their children nutritious meals.

The fact that this woman is peddled as the token "Conservative", is ludicrous.

I find this deeply ironic since the Spew's Lesbian Emeritus hated on her from the beginning because Hasselbeck looked so incredibly like Rosie's (now-ex) 'wife' and probably spurned every advance that raging dyke ever made.

When adult/child marriage gets pushed in this country will she be telling us not to hate that, too? How about human/animal marriage? How about human/pillow marriage?

When there are attempts to outlaw marriage or regulate it out of existence will she get a case of Athlete’s Mouth, too? What a freakin’ moron!

I hope the ratings for that show just plunge off the cliff!

I have a solution for gay marriage. The federal government needs to get out of the marriage business all together. Married people do not deserve tax cuts for being married. Married people do not deserve tax cuts for having children. The federal government needs to quit social engineering. A married couple making my salary get to keep $4000 dollars more of their paycheck each year. A married couple with a kid gets to keep $1500 dollars more of their salary each year. I get screwed by having to pay $5500 more dollars each year because of “social engineering.”

Get the federal government out of marriage all together.

Oh shut up!
Empty headed women like Hasselbeck have no business even being heard on national TV. It's a sad state of affairs in this country, when national television has pinheads like like Hasselbeck, Joy Baher and Whoopi Goldberg, being given free reign to polute the air we breathe, with their inane nattering.

Exactly.

So Elizabeth... Who are we to follow? Society or the will of God?

Most conservatives who oppose gay marriage do not "hate" the couples that are involved in gay relationships. They see the sacredness of the nuclear family as one to defend and protect. They are willing to fight for this as they see the destruction of a society if we continue to allow societal sexual exploration and exploitation to become the norm.

I SO AGREE AND HAVE SAID THIS FOR A LONG TIME!!!!

As a single person I am penalized all over the place for being ‘not married”...I can not bequeth my social security money I have been forced to pay for years! At work others can take “family leave”. there are also insurance benefits, etc ...I just don’t want to go on...It makes me so mad.

If “marriage” was out of the govt area, all this ‘gay marriage” would be SO OVER!

Yeesh.

If marriage has no reference to children, then it is not marriage at all. Tax policy subsidizes families with children because society needs children or it soon ceases to exist. We are headed down that road. There are a huge number of unmarried women who will never be part of a traditional family, and if they have children, a large portion will be unproductive. If the number of gay men increases, that further reduces the number of children. The end result is a “mule” society. Mules are often good workers, but they they don’t leave progeny to take their place when they get old and die.

"If marriage has no reference to children, then it is not marriage at all. Tax policy subsidizes families with children because society needs children or it soon ceases to exist."

Wrong answer! You do NOT deserve more of my paycheck and labor just because I am not married. My mother and father with 5 children were never "subsidized" (aka, welfare) by the government.

"The policy of the American government is to leave their citizens free, neither restraining nor aiding them in their pursuits."

--Thomas Jefferson

The federal government is restraining me with a much heavier tax burden and aiding you with a much lighter tax burden (aka welfare).

How conservative are you really that you live on government welfare?

Yep! It would be over. A dead issue. I find it a bit appalling that conservatives have no problem going on government welfare (aka marriage and kid tax credits) while other Americans are burden with higher taxes to make up for their welfare freebies from the nanny-government. I guess some conservatives feel they have a right to more of my labor than they feel I have a right to their labor.

It's welfare. You like welfare. You think you have a right to more of my labor than I have a right to your labor? You think you're special? I need to labor harder and longer for you than you for me? My parents rasied 5 kids and never took government welfare nor did they need for a nanny-govenment to socially engineer them.

I'll ask again: You think you have a right to more of my labor than I have a right to your labor?

The root cause/issue of ALL of this is once again Government.

My bet is most conservatives could care less about homosexual unions/marries save that with the Government involved, the most depraved receive special treatment. Erase that "protection", the issue goes away.

Oh, and quit falling into their "new speak" crap. They are not "gay", they are homosexuals and they hide behind the "gay" moniker. Government (even Conservatives) are complicit in painting a "happy fun time" by using "new speak".

Hasselbeck is being so naive. To equate “love” with sexual lust? To adopt Marxist language that is an oxymoron: gay marriage? What is that? That concept is bizarre and destructive to civil societies which want to create a future for their children.

There is a natural reason to unite one man and one woman and any other definition of marriage is obscene and will make the word meaningless. Christianity’s definition of marriage has made the most profound and successful societies on earth. Undermining Christian philosophy (Marxism) only creates moral morass because you destroy human dignity and human worth—such as the importance of sex in relationships for the sake of children and a future.

Does she not love her children? Does she understand that true love has nothing to do with sexual urges and sexual lust? Does she think that love means you have to have sex with someone to truly love them? What an idiot.

She is reducing the most profound human feeling into selfish, nihilistic, lust-filled sexual acts which all homosexual practice does. It reduces sex to a commodity...makes sex meaningless.

Think of what kind of Marxist, atheistic world you are trying to create for your children. Read the “Brave New World” and that is what you will get with this ugly, repulsive camel’s nose. We are talking about creating a society with absolutely NO human dignity and no freedom of religion.

Exempting Christian sexual morality from humanity puts us right back into the orgies of “pagan” Rome where homosexuality was practiced and condoned for centuries and where children were sacrificed to the gods. Come on, Hasselbeck, we can not reduce ourselves to a society who is only interested in pleasuring oneself. It will always destroy the society in the end.
