For whatever it's worth, I agree with the prevailing opinion here, that politics has no place in this sort of event, and any violator permanently banned from future participation.

Yes, and it being difficult to prove, shows how easy it is to profile, even though the law prohibits it. All one has to do, to stop an innocent, profiled, person, is say he was stopped because he fit the description of someone of interest...whether they did or not is moot.
