PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) A Haitian court has convicted American missionary Laura Silsby of arranging to transport 33 children out of the country following the Jan. 12 earthquake.
But the judge has sentenced her to time served in jail and she is free to leave the country.
The Idaho woman got the good news during a court hearing Monday.
The 40-year-old has been in custody since Jan. 29.

I bet they mistreated her in jail very badly.
Not that we may ever know.
I would bet there was a lot of political pressure applied somewhere.
I would bet that her legal troubles are not over.
There were some people in her party who probably have large legal bills due to her poor judgment.
Or bribes were paid.
Well, the pressure certainly wasn’t on her behalf, if it came from our government.
This was just to cover Haiti’s dysfunctional backside (in fact, that was why she was arrested in the first place).
Wasn’t her side of the story that she had permission to take the children to adoptive parents? I’ll bet she writes a book about all this, and if she does, I hope she makes a nice little pile of money.
