I’ve always wanted to see a Russian Tu-95MS “Bear”, and an Iceberg (yes, the frozen thing).

How about a bear hitting an iceburg?

Yep......F-4 was proof ya put a big enough engine on a brick it would fly !......:o)

An the F-4 was fast !

My old Wing King at Aviano AB in Italy was Col William “Hoot” Gibson in 75. He held the record for longest combat mission over North Vietnam in an F-4 as a Wild Weasel Pilot or so I was told....... He was a good guy . Gave me a ride back from Torrejon AB in Spain when I got bumped off a C141 flight. Flew back in a T-39 ! Last time I saw him and his wife was at a Luby’s in Albuquerque NM when I was stationed at Kirtland AFB .

I think that you’re thinking of the “Deuce” or the F-102. That airplane had a bad rep. The later F-106 was actually a pretty good handling aircraft. At certain altitudes it did pretty well dogfighting Phantoms. (In truth, neither aircraft was designed as a dogfighter — both were missile carriers.)

Probably.

I just googled the F-106 and it looks pretty nice, a true delta wing. I thought those were tough to land or something?

I’ve heard of “Hoot”!

Those F-4 engines could eat trees for breakfast, though! We laughed when our first F-16 arrived, so tiny and delicate in comparison.

I got an incentive ride in a T-38 back in the 80’s. Had a blast. We were up there with 4 F-4’s and a B-52. Loved it!

After 9-11, we pulled the NORAD mission again, with F-16’s until October of 2008. Great mission, sure miss it!

Good point, it looks like we will be keeping our dinosaurs till 2040:

WIKIPEDIA, "Even while the Air Force works on new bombers scheduled for 2037 it intends to keep the B-52H in service until at least 2040."

Nice to see what F-22s we have are being utilized where they can do some real good. I'll bet that Russian aircraft didn't even know it was there until they pulled alongside to wave hi. $:-)
