With a sluggish Europe still mired in a sovereign-debt and currency crisis and Chinas stock market plunging to a multiyear low, Americans may want to look for investing opportunities closer to home. The IBD 100 is a list of the top-performing companies on fundamental and technical factors. Five of the top eight stocks are based in the U.S. Theyre also primarily focused on the domestic market, and thus not very exposed to recent currency swings that might hurt U.S. exporters and multinationals.

1. Medifast (MED)
4. Industrial Services of America (IDSA)
The Kentucky-based firm buys, processes and sells scrap metals and recyclables.
5. Netflix (NFLX)
The online movie rental subscription service is getting more of its customers to watch streaming video rather than order DVDs by mail.
7. Deckers Outdoor (DECK)
The maker of Ugg sheepskin boots and Teva sport sandals delivered a 45% profit gain in Q1, the best in 5 quarters.
8. BofI Holding (BOFI)
The holding company for Bank of Internet USA operates primarily via the Internet from a lone San Diego office.
Medifast. Apparently we can’t do anything ourselves, certainly not weght loss. It requires medicine or something.
IDSA. At least we’re doing something with all those vacant sub prime McMansions
Netflix. Good to know we have plenty of time to watch streaming video while we lose weight on Medifast.
Deckers Outdoor. Wearing our UGG Boots or Sandals. Sandals are for women or for use at the beach. Or if one is a Mohammedan I suppose. I don’t want to see anyone’s feet at Wal Mart or Home Depot, thanks.
BOFI Holdings. Operating out of a single office in San Diego. Can you say JOBS, JOBS, JOBS?
