examiner.com — Something quietly happened over the last few years. America's free press started to report more accurately on gun rights issues as anti-gun rights voodoo-public policy incantations about "assault weapons," "private dealers," and "gun show loopholes" have been outed. . . .

I wouldn’t count on it continuing.

I honestly haven’t noticed.

A few months ago, my Sister mentioned that one could buy a machine gun at a gun show just as easily as buying a candy bar.

I told her that was not correct and she replied that Andrea Mitchell had reported that and she knew it was true.

I patiently explained how guns are sold and about Class III dealers and how much trouble it is to buy a real machine gun. I was a bit surprised when she realized she had been mislead and thanked me for telling her the truth.

The media telling the truth about anything regarding America is a rarity. Especially when it comes to guns.

Most people don’t know that civilians can’t legally own fully automatic firearms manufactured after 1986, and that pre-ban full auto weapons cost >$5,000 on the low end and $20,000 for a typical full auto rifle.

On the other hand, they also don’t realize that owning a suppressor is legal (in most states) provided you jump through the NFA hoops.

Well, the Examiner has been reading their own newspaper, (which is OK, because it is fairly reasonable), but not so much the Marxist media competition.

I have seen nothing remotely reasonable in it leftist MSM at all.

In the local New York city media, AR-15s are called “assault rifles” and Glock 40s (such as the ones carried by the NYPD) are “automatic weapons.”

The average American is pretty much clueless about gun laws. Even a lot of gun owners are ignorant. No surprise as that is one area in which the media doesn’t just mislead, but will out and out lie.

I don't know. The title gives me impression that the media (including the MSM) has changed their tone in reporting on gun issues. However, this seems to be applied only to the 'alternative' media.

That has happened, but not so sure why. Maybe it is due to the Supreme Court rulings more that anything else. I think that they (liberal media) have simply given up because of these rulings.

I do expect that the Liberals against guns will quietly continue without much effect though. Seems that facts eventually get dispersed - even with a reluctant media. I thank the internet for that...

It’s the Alternative (read, conservative) Media that is forcing the MSM to hew very reluctantly toward the truth.

Hatred for FoxNews by liberals is approaching Taleban-like intensity.

Very true! NY media in general and Newsday in particular also commonly refer to “powerful 9MM” pistols. This was very common when local police agencies switched from .38 cal. revolvers to 9mm pistols they invariably described the changeover from .38 to the “more powerful 9mm.” Even if the “.38” was in fact .357 mag.
They knew not of what they spoke.

Yes but CCW has done a lot to educate them ... they no longer respond like Pavlov's dog to the cry for more gun control.
