Basically: Blumenthal lied abut his service and acted like he apologized that we misunderstood him in that video and how he let newspapers make misprints that he did nothing to correct over 5 years.
Then, he has his sycophant friends line the stage and one of them is a genuine combat vet who LIED himself about his record to sell his books on PTSD. His name is William Trumphower and goes by the pen name Elliot Storm and is a part of a veterans group that follows Blumenthal. http://www.pownetwork.org/phonies/phonies293.htm http://www.ctnewsjunkie.com/ctnj.php/archives/entry/simmons_races_to_upstage/
NOW, the NATIONAL VFW is in an uproar over Blumy using a VFW, an organization that Blumy is unqualified to join, as his venue to apologize http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0510/37455.html#ixzz0oLITlYhV
AND, the Marine Corps League is going to have a say over members wearing their MCL Jackets, specifically Peter Galgano from the New Britain Hardware City Detachment, the one I once belonged to http://www.mcleague.org/mdp/userpages/HARDWARE_CITY-34.php
I watched this display of lies last night. That guy to Blumies right was "in tears" defending Blumie.
He looks like a union goon as do they all. I bet they were paid to be there.
Just another east coast douche bag.Why would any sane person cast a vote for him now?
This guy is an unrepentant liar. Period.
I would bet this is not the only thing about which he has lied.
according to a news article, a group of vets follows him to support him, and that pser was the one who told the newsperson that!

According to his Wikipedia page, he graduated from Harvard magna cum laude and got his law degree from Yale. Guess they didn't teach a class in why you shouldn't lie. I'm wondering about his academic performance, but it's a bit late for anyone to look into it. Perhaps something will "come out of the woodwork," though.
The Wiki page also says he was a reporter for The Washington Post in his early career. Hired by none other than Benjamin Bradlee. No big surprise there, except it shows the revolving door between the media and Democrat politics.
I’ll say one other thing, if I was in that MCL detachment, I would leave it and find a new one. No way could I go to meetings every month with these duche bags. Which makes me think that these guys just might be members who never participate in anything. Don’t go to any meetings or events. Just pay their dues every year or are lifetime members. I’m sure after this little stunt, there would be some words said at the next MCL monthly meeting.
Okay, Galgano made PSA's with Mike Peters...
Geeze...I never got anywhere *near* Vietnam during my hitch but,in spite of that fact (or maybe *because* of it),I wouldn’t have gotten anywhere near Blumenthal during that speech as did those sad, deluded clowns standing near him.
he would never be allowed to be a member, you have to have served in a combat area to qualify
I barely qualify and just joined myself, but Blumy is UNK!
Supposedly Blumenthal “remembered” being spit on when he returned from Vietnam. While he might be able to play word games with the difference between serving “in” and “during” Vietnam. there’s no way even Blumenthal could come up with a lame excuse for misremembering something like that. It would be great if there was audio or video out there somewhere of that remark.
Understood...but I could swear that I read that he *was* a member.I guess I was wrong.Either that or he somehow managed to lie his way in...perhaps even by altering his DD214.
I'm not nearly as intelligent or as well educated as Blumenthal but there are two important things that *I* know about *my* life...1)I served in the United States Armed Forces during the Vietnam *era* ...2)I never got within 6,000 miles of Vietnam while serving in the Armed Forces.
I was a young teenager in Vietnam, sorry, during Vietnam.
This article is written for a paper in New London/ Groton area which is a Navy (Submarine base) town. Not a lot of sympathy there for a liar and poser.

Any few friends/co-workers that have mentioned they did a hitch
in the USA military during the 1960s-1970s always IMMEDIATELY say
1. I served but didn’t get sent to Vietnam
OR
2. I went to Vietnam, but served in the rear doing supply/administrative work
OR
3. I served but would rather not talk about it, please (tip that they
likely got out into the sh-t).
Of course, as far as I know, none of these guys ever ran for office.
Or were Democrats.
Just my observation on admittedly a small sample size.
