I was present at the speech “Dick” Blumenthal made in Norwalk. It was at The Marvin, a senior assisted living facility where my mom lives. The residents there had been engaged in making blankets for service personnel wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. These “80 something” patriots had made thousands of the blankets to warm our troops bound stateside for further surgery, recovery and rehab. Lots of folks gathered to honor their efforts including the Mayor, Chris Shays, the Lt. Governor, a rep from the VA, and various other officials. It was in this venue that Blumenthal perpetrated his vile calumny. He stood before aging WWII heroes, including veterans of the Bulge, Pearl Harbor, Anzio, and European Air campaign. If one includes all the family present, there were vets from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and Desert Storm, as well as current active duty people and all of the services were represented. This where Blumenthal told his BIG lie. I just thought context might clarify the gravity of his actions.
