I hate sitting in Airbus seats. They dont fit taller men. Every time I have to sit in an airbus plane for more than 2 hrs, I have to see a chiropractor.

I just made a reservation for the Fall which involves a 14 hour flight on an A380.I hate flying Airbus but this was my only option. But all the other legs of the trip are on 777’s so it's not a total loss.

For some reason, I do not feel that this airplane is over-engineered (if you know what I mean).

Airbus always seemed too defensive and secretive about the multi-delays, and IIRC, wanted to pin everything on wiring issues.

Perhaps I'm too suspicious, and it's a good airplane. Time will tell.

They have been in service for a while now, its only a first for the Lufthansa not the plane, I have the pleasure of seeing one landing right over my head twice a week :)

Besides moon rock worshipers salivate at the thought of killing anyone not bowing to the mighty moon rock, whether its 1 person or 500 on a plane.

The analogy holds, however.

I hope the A380 is successful, but I think it is likely to limited to a few long and crowded routes. London-NewYork, say. Two big to deplane for short hops and scheduling less crowded routes might be problematic.

A380, 14 hours in the air, another 14 waiting to get 500 people through the Jetway.

I’m a Boeing fan, but there is little doubt that the A380 is already quite successful.

up to 600 people on an airplane? What will the bathrooms look like after a 12 hour flight?

Typical “central planning” mentality. It doesn’t matter if you don’t want to be crammed into a metal tube with 600 other people for 12 hours - its more efficient for us, and you will like it!

In the tradition of its earlier HUGE success the Concorde. Airbus decided to doubledeck a 747. Wow. Now THAT’S innovative!.

The A380 entered service with Singapore Airlines on 25 October 2007. In addition, Emirates, Qantas and Air France already operate the type as well. Lufthansa will be carrier number five.

Thats only here with our single pier gates...go to Asia or most large airports in Europe and they can board it or deplane as fast as a 757. Actually it is a nice plane to fly on, have had 3 flights on the 380 this year on Singapore Airlines, all long but enjoyable

I flew in an Airbus airplane once on a flight to Jamaica. The whole damn plane just felt ‘different’. And not in a pleasant way.

Hi. I warn all of my family and freinds to NOT fly on the A380s. I worked and ran an emergency aeroparts desk for years with a crew and would talk to airbus, boeing and others daily. When I heard about this story, I swore to never fly on one of those white elephants. Please reconsider.:

It passed the FAA evacuation test with 850 passengers aboard...they all had to get out in 90 seconds.

The plane has been in service for a while now. It takes no longer to turn it around at the airport than any other large airliner.

Name an airline build program that isn’t on trouble. That says nothing about the plane itself.

Boeing’s 787 is extremely late and still has problems.

Once again, the A380 has already been in service for a while. If it were not efficient and profitable for the airlines, we would know this already.

Airline First commercial flight Number in service
Air France 20 November 2009 3
Emirates 1 August 2008 8
Lufthansa 19 May 2010 1
Qantas 20 October 2008 6
Singapore Airlines 25 October 2007 10
