TOKYO, May 19 (AFP) -
SNIPPET: "The pilot of the Boeing 747-400 with 407 passengers and crew bound for Minneapolis turned around late Monday about three hours into the flight from Tokyo's Narita airport after crew found the two men who refused to leave the cabin bathroom.
Reports said the pair, who identified themselves as Chinese citizens aged in their 20s, had boarded the flight during an earlier stop in Shanghai.

SNIPPET: “A Delta Airlines Boeing 747-400, registration N675NW performing flight DL-620 from Tokyo Narita (Japan) to Minneapolis,MN (USA) with 407 people on board, was enroute about one hour into the flight, when two male passengers were observed carrying a plastic bag containing some liquid into a lavatory raising concerns with the crew. The captain ordered the two passengers to be detained and decided to return to Tokyo for a safe landing. The passengers were taken into custody by Tokyo police.
Laboratory tests revealed the liquid was not dangerous at all identifying the liquid as urine.”
No passports? How did they get on the flight?
That’s a good question and I’m sure whatever the answer is will be interesting.
I have to show my passport, driver’s license and sometimes two or three other forms of ID.....
“Chinese in toilet spark mid-air terror alert”

SNIPPET: “A US-bound Delta Air Lines flight turned back to Japan after two Chinese passengers locked themselves in a toilet with what authorities said was a container of suspicious liquid.
The pilot of the Boeing 747-400 with 407 passengers and crew bound for Minneapolis turned around three hours into the flight from Tokyo after the two men refused to leave the toilet.”
As with any breaking news and under-reported news at that; the “news” is always subject to change.
If the gentlemen did get on the flight with no passports; the updates will be interesting, too.
urine? i guess they had to go so they ‘went’ into the bag and then took the bag to the bathroom when it is free?
chinese eh? i’d be more worried if they have any tainted milk with them.

Just say “No sabe Ingles!” By Obama’s rules you should get a pass, unless you are in Az! ;-D

A pax description that I am inclined to speculate as authentic:
DL620 started off with a little excitement this afternoon when 2 men continuously paced the aisles clutching their brief cases. The flight attendants approached them a number of times asking them to have a seat, which they didn’t. A short time later, there was a call for a physician in the back as one of the men had thrown up and was a touch diaphoretic. Fortunately an ER doc showed up, and my services were not needed. Not long after that, there was another call for the front row of coach. About 20 minutes later, each of the men was brought to opposite sides of row 21 in flexicuffs or zip ties or whatever they are called. Both of them were obviously drugged.

The flight was quietly turned around and we were told about 15 minutes out of NRT that we have returned and would land shortly. Passengers were asked to stay seated as a large number of law enforcement personnel entered the aircraft and took charge of the scene.
It was impressive watching the former NW ladies take charge of that situation. They also had the relief pilots come down and check out the situation as well. All very professional.
(Note that the tail number of the plane was N675NW)
Could you please post the source link so I can read that too?
Ok, here’s the source url you are referring to:
You need your passport to get your ticket and boarding pass. You need your passport to go through security screening. Sometimes, you need your passport to present with your boarding pass before you embark the plane.
I cannot understand how this could happen, unless it was intentional.
