FCC Says It Has 'No Record' of Any Communication to or from its Chairman Mentioning Limbaugh.....

FCC Says It Has 'No Record' of Any Communication to or from its Chairman Mentioning Limbaugh, Hannity, Levin, Beck, Ingraham or Savage Friday, May 21, 2010 By Fred Lucas, Staff Writer

(CNSNews.com) – The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) says it has “no records” of any communication either “to or from” its chairman that mentions Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Glenn Beck, Laura Ingraham or Michael Savage.

The FCC made the declaration in response to a Freedom of Information Act request by CNSNews.com that sought all its records reflecting communications from FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski mentioning the popular radio hosts. "No records of correspondence responsive to your request were located as a result of a search of records of the Chairman's office," said the FCC in a May 6 letter to CNSNews.com.

Despite this assertion, a letter about “hate speech in the media” specifically citing “radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh” was in fact sent to FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski by a coalition of liberal groups last fall.

This letter came in 2009, a year that saw a series of attacks against Limbaugh by the Obama White House. President Barack Obama, for example, reportedly said in January 2009 during a meeting with congressional Republicans, “You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done.”

Well, if the FCC says so, then I am okay with all of this.

The “as a result of a search of the records in the Chairman’s office” is a dead giveaway. They’re in his secretary’s office or in the database. They need to ask for either paper or electronic records that are under the FCC’s administrative control regardless of where they are located. And/or they need to ask to see records of the destruction of any such communications.

These jerks will obfuscate however they have to. Trust me on that; I’ve got a LOT of experience dealing with this kind of crap. See http://www.butterdezillion.wordpress.com

“So, depending what they send and when they send it, it may or may not be something,” said Kaufman.

Brilliant!

lol.

BTW, every excuse she mentioned in this article has been used by the Hawaii DOH as well. But the people asking to see the records are so “vexatious” if they don’t just hobble away with their tail between their legs.

They can file something under the heading “my pet pony” and it will never show up in a “reasonable search” unless somebody asks to see records re: “my pet pony”. And then, of course, they can dismiss the request as absurd.

The only way the laws or rules mean a thing is if the people administering them are basically decent, law-abiding people.

We are so screwed.

I guess I am missing the point of this story. Some cranks complained to the FCC about Limbaugh and others, they apparently were not taken seriously, and since Rush is still on the air I guess no action was taken.

And how would such a letter be indexed ? Under L for Limbaugh, under the name of the sender, under the senders group, under R for radio, under J for jerks , what ? A general bitching letter very well may not be indexed to come up on a search of “Limbaugh”.

So in the absence of a bit more, how is this a story ?

If it had been a hate letter about some effing liberal, they damn sure wouldn’t have lost it. In fact, the little creeps would have sent it over to their boys at the New York Times.

Good find, especially considering the weak headline.
