Barack Obama's remarkable powers of oratory are well known: In support of Chicago's Olympic bid, he flew into Copenhagen to give a heartwarming speech about himself, and they gave the games to Rio. He flew into Boston to support Martha Coakley's bid for the U.S. Senate, and Massachusetts voters gave Ted Kennedy's seat to a Republican. In the first year of his presidency, he gave a gazillion speeches on health care "reform" and drove support for his proposals to basement level, leaving Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to ram it down the throats of the American people through sheer parliamentary muscle.

Makes my skin crawl just reading about such a cold, calculating anti-American representing our country. The words I would rather use I can’t print here.
I started reading expecting Steyn’s usual on target humor. But it was appropriately sobering. Steyn is po’d. So am I.
Another great column by MS.
The comments to his article article are very good.....
Great article!
Listening to Obama and Eric Holder, perhaps they've figured out there's nothing much up there anyway."
Steyn BUMP!

Something we hoped could never happen here, we have literally elected an anti-American administration
Good article; Steyn is brilliant when describing the character weaknesses of 0bama.
Another ‘Obamaism’.
The things that matter most to Real Americans, is what 0bama fails so miserably with.
I saw some of this speech by 0bama. He was lifeless. His heart wasn’t in it at all. You can easily tell when he could care less about a certain issue. Cap and trade and 0bama-care are what really turn on our Kenyan socialist president
BO’s “captured our imaginations” was one of the most disgusting remarks I’ve ever heard. BO is am ass!!!
Obviously, the loss of Daniel Pearl was one of those moments that captured the world’s imagination because it reminded us of how valuable a free press is.”
I think Jonathan Alter had him pegged. Obama lacks leadership skills. Alter pointed out the Obama failed to convince anyone to follow him.
kinda turns the Biden ‘joke’ about ‘look behind you, President Bush’ right back on Obama where it belongs.
Great article post. Steyn devastates the great faux orator.
Not just Anti American but Pro Islam.
The most dangerous combination in history. Jimmah Carter was just a fool. But this guy is an actual enemy. Big difference.
You can always tell when he cares about something, because he shows actual emotion, as in his infamous "Cambridge police acted stupidly" soundbite. When it comes to flashpoints of race or "social justice," our boy is always on fire. All other times, he's just a bad stage actor going through the motions transparently and obviously.
Obama got elected President of the United States by using fluffy, meaningless, values-neutral, morally relative phrases. So for him, a man being beheaded with a knife isn’t horrific, infuriating, sickening, disgusting, or any of 1000 other emotions any human being would feel. For him, it’s a one world, one size fits all, opportunity to advance the collective ideology.
This is a must read.
I can’t help but believe that this will change the hearts of even a few of his admirers.
That has to be one of the most outrageous and vile remarks ever uttered by any politician, anywhere, anytime. To think that Obama would think that islamist jihadis sawing off the head of an American Jew was and event that “captured our imaginations” speaks volumes about Obama. What a despicable scumbag.
Amen!!
I’ve been avoiding articles about this evil man. It exhausts me. I decided to read this particular article because I love Steyn and find him clever and entertaining. He’s gifted with words and tells the truth. The combination is brilliant.
I have to say, however, that this article made my blood boil, but not because of any mistake by the author. It was like getting hit in the head; a painful realization that we have a Failure in Chief leading this country. A piece of garbage.
Shocking.
Then infuriating.
And, finally, disgusting.
It would be bad enough if a Muslim taxicab driver uttered them. But these words were uttered by a President of the United States. Which makes it doubly disgusting.
Puke in Chief one could say.
BO is the WORST president ever.
And I’m old enough to remember Carter. Never thought there’d be another president as bad as him. So sad that I was Wrong!!
Shocked our senese describes it better.
I can't image anyone viewing someone being decapitatated with a knife without losing their lunch.
Zero couldn’t have uttered a more outrageous and inappropriate statement. The moment I heard it I thought that events such as the Americans beating the USSR at hockey, men landing on the moon, a royal wedding, etc...are events that “capture the imagination” and they are all heroic or romantic or thrilling. All positive things.
Pearl’s brutal murder was repulsive and abominable, hardly “capturing the imagination” unless you find it heroic or thrilling. Zero relates to the Jihadis, he is not on the side of what’s good and right and decent at all, but only evil.
It’s absolutely repugnant that this man is our President!!
Where was the outrage about the racial profiling that led to Pearl’s capture, torture and murder?
Oh, it didn’t happen in Arizona, it doesn’t count.
MARK STEYN at his best.
Absolutely scathing repost to our insipid
president.
Steyn! Oh, to be able to write like the Man.
Terrorists do far more than commit savage and gruesome murder. They murder in ways intended to cause the “imagination” of others to fear and fall to their commands.
I don’t for one second believe that Obama didn’t know exactly what he was doing when he said, “Obviously, the loss of Daniel Pearl was one of those moments that captured the world’s imagination .” Obama was right, that is exactly what the terrorists were wishing to accomplish, and they did.
Obama’s words had a purpose......
A truly chilling piece. Remind me of what a literally DISGUSTING man is Barack Hussein Obama.
open mouth,insert foot ,chew vigourously
In fact, I suggest to whoever runs against Obama in 2012 put together a montage of three clips: This one, the "let's not jump to conclusions and quick judgments" (Hasan Nidal of the Fort Hood killings) and his comments about the black college professor who was legally arrested by the white police officer. Beer Summit my arse. Start running them in June 2012 and we'll have a new President sworn in on 20 January, 2013. I wonder if their spin doctors are hiring?
We need someone running for President who has what it takes to run such an ad. I think Palin would. Who else would dare?
Don’t be so surprised. BHO is a muslim. Muslims hate Jews and Christians (Americans) and want to kill them. BHO is Pesident of the United States. The only roll of the dice left is November.
I can’t put down on ‘paper’ what I’m feeling about Obama’s callous remarks about Daniel Pearl’s beheading.
That's the truth, along, of course, with the fact that the press worked hard to cover up anything that would conflict with this and reveal the bitter, grudge-driven, America-hating, Muslim egomaniac behind the fluff.
The thing that was particularly disturbing about Bambi's latest stupid remark is that "capture the imagination" usually has a positive meaning - something like the moon landing, for example. But I guess it all depends on what you think of as positive, so perhaps Obama revealed more than he intended in this remark.
“That’s all President Obama owed him to do the same (tell the truth)”
“The truth is not in him”
Extraordinary column by Steyn. The fact that Pearl was a journalist should outrage other journalists, but in the current climate, other journalists are as blase and detached as Obama about the fate of one of them plying his trade. All journalists should feel the outrage that Steyn expresses. The White House sycophants just yawn and go on praising their anointed one. Truly disgusting.
Obama needs to watch the video. At that time, I couldn’t - I had one of my co-workers watch it and tell me if it would be too tough and he said no way should I watch it. He almost got sick himself. Later on, I forced myself to watch Nick Berg’s.
