Do you think the Repubs will win back NY-23 in a “landslide” this November?

LOL! Beats the heck out of me. What's your point?

The so called repub in 23 endorsed the dem.

There’s a kerfuffle about NY 23 again. Not sure of the details. Patterson, again.

But the Republicans will likely be careful not to tout the victory too loudly. Mr. Djou won with less than 40 percent of the vote, with two Democratic challengers taking 58 percent.

The rules change for the November election, and only one Democrat will be able to challenge Djou for the seat. Without two Democrats to split the vote between them, Djou knows that the math is stacked against him.

Stacked against his is an understatement.

Unless the Dims run a total looser against him he doesn’t have a chance.

Before you bring up Massachusetts just let me repeat unless the Dims run a total looser against him.

Simple. A Repub and a Conservative candidate split the traditional Repub vote in a special election in a very Repub district in Upstate NY and the Dem won. The media made a very big deal about the Dem victory, but barely gave credence to the fact that the Repub vote was split. Sound familiar? Same as H-01 in reverse.

“The so called repub in 23 endorsed the dem.”

Bottom line, the RINO and the Conservative split the Repub vote, same as H-01 in reverse.

Not a given.

An incumbent usually has an advantage.

Djou now has 7 months to campaign as an incumbent. I'll bet he wins again in November.

So we pretty much know how he won.

He has between now and November to prove himself.

Having already downed a few power drinks, she turns around, faces him, looks him straight in the eye and says, “Listen here good looking, I screw anybody, anytime, anywhere, your place, my place, in the car, front door, back door, on the ground, standing up, sitting down, naked or with clothes on, it doesn’t matter to me. I just love it.”
Eyes now wide with interest, he responds, “No kidding. I’m in Congress too. What state do you represent?”

Okay, I see your point. Maybe.

I just watched that idiot Steele sitting next to Tim Kaine, DNC Chair, not say a word when Kaine said, "In 2010 we will see more jobs created than in all of the eight Bush years."

The GOP is completely overwhelmed by the dems. They cannot figure out how to fight these guys. I think in November, if we're lucky, we take the House by a few seats. That's it. The Senate is a lost cause because after McCain wins (we haven't seen the fighting yet in AZ) he will go back to reaching across the aisle and the U.S will be done as he locks arms with Graham on amnesty and Cap and Trade.

Am I cynical? You betcha'. I have no faith in the GOP to mount ANY kind of response to the dems.

Unless we physically mount a response to what is going on I see no reason to expect a GOP takeover as Rush, Levin and Hannity are claiming.

They all said Obama didn't have a chance being the socialist he is. And, he probably wouldn't have if McCain hadn't helped him. Too many progressive republicans are entrenched in their office. Too many people, even here on FR, are afraid of pushing in a third party or supporting a GOP outsider for fear of losing that "R" in the roll call.

Not necessarily. How many of the Dem voters turned out because of the two choices? If there is only one choice, will they have the same level of turnout?

We can hope...but the district mirrors the state - heavily, heavily ‘rat.

Yes! If Djou provides good constituent services he may just pull it off. A lot can happen between now and November.

A win is a win. Dems crowed at picking up a couple of GOP held seats so Republicans might as well celebrate this one. Dems also screamed about having won special elections in districts they already held! So this is an actual pick up for the Republicans.

Djou did better than Repubs have done in that district in recent elections. If he runs strong and is well funded he could win again in Nov.

Exactly. I'm sure bambi will come out with some smarmy, derogative remark before the day is out, thin-skinned POS that he is.

The “Citizen of the World” doesn’t know where his hometown is located? (”Uh, uh, Kenya? Uh. Uh Indonesia? Uh, Vancover? Uh , Connectcut? Uh, California? Uh,uh,that town with the blue collar ball team? Uh, uh, uh”)...

After the win in CA which was totally expected, Pelosi and company actually referred to this as a gain for them! It was not. Last night’s HI win was indeed a gain for us so the GOP should be talking it up. I suspect the “news” media will not have that much to say about it or they will talk about how the seat was won only because of the Demo split. Speaking of which, couldn’t they offer a judgeship or other job to one of these folks to get them to drop out?

That's because a third party is a GUARANTEED FAIL.

There have been over SEVENTY-FIVE third party runs in our nation's history since 1900 and the best they ever did was to elect and re-elect Bill Clinton. Those are the facts.

What makes you believe for a moment that somehow the American electorate will suddenly go against our history?

A conservative third party candidacy is the most certain means of guaranteeing the re-election of Barack Obama.
