Registered Sex Offender Speaks Out
Valley Central ^ | 5/22/10 | Erika Flores

Posted on 05/23/2010 7:58:46 AM PDT by Clint Williams

His face is plastered on the public sex offender registry.

“I’m not going to shy away from this,” said Billy Wayne Johnson.

He did time behind bars.

“I’m not going to hide from this,” said Johnson.

It all stems from claims that Billy Wayne Johnson, a registered sex offender, volunteers at Horizon Montessori Charter School in McAllen.

When the news first aired on Action 4 News, parents were concerned, and after seeing the report, Johnson contact Action 4 News.

“They should have no fears,” said Johnson.

He claims to have been wrongfully accused.

“Unfortunately, I have to carry this label around with me for the rest of my life,” he said.

He’s convicted of indecency with a child, but Johnson said what really happened is that his ex girlfriend made the story up after a falling out.

But if that’s not enough to calm fears, “At no time am I ever left alone on that campus,” he said.

Johnson said two of his children attend the charter school, and he said he was upfront with the school’s administration about his record, and the school has strict policies in place.

“I either have to be escorted by a faculty member or be in plain sight by a faculty member at all times,” said Johnson.

As for claims that he volunteers at the school, he said he gets involved with his children’s school the only way he can, working from home designing the yearbook’s front and back cover.

“I do not go to the school for that,” he said.

Johnson said he understands people’s fears, but said he’s just a man trying to live a normal life with his wife and children.

“I want them to know they’re children are safe, and I want them to know that the school, the district, the administration, including the principal are doing everything they can to ensure those children’s safety,” said Johnson.

“We can afford to lose a few in order to be safe.”

Perhaps a reading of Blackstone might enlighten you as to why Americans used to make such a central issue of presumption of innocence.

Think about this...it is incredibly easy to destroy a man’s life by falsely accusing him of a sexual crime against a child. If a scorned wife with no conscience leveled false charges of child abuse against her husband, there is no way that the man can prove his innocence. He will be branded a sex offender for the rest of his life. Even if the wife recants her charge, there will always be that seed of doubt and “just to be safe”, society will require that the man continue to be considered a sex offender nevertheless.

I teach in a college and have a few strict rules. I'm NEVER alone with a student and I never see a student socially. I worked with kids at a summer church camp for several years, but I will not do it any more.

I've known five people accused of sexual misconduct. I suspect two of them did it. Of the other three, one was a wife having an affair and accused the husband of harassing her. The chief of police for the small town where this occurred was sitting in a restaurant looking at the guy being accused when she called to claim he was trying to break into her house. A second one got involved in a divorce and was told flat out that he could give up the kids or she'd accuse him of molesting them. The third was a guy who took in his niece from a lesbian in-law. After the niece returned to the mother, she apparently became upset because the niece wanted to return to her uncle and didn't want to live with mom and her "second mommy." The woman made one call from out of state and it took two years to get the charges dropped. My friend was fortunate that he worked in a factory. One single phone call like that and I would be out of a job.

Yep - this type of thing is definitely a “Guilty until proven innocent” situation.

After seeing how vindictive my ex was during our divorce, I don’t doubt that many women are capable and willing to destroy a man’s life over a previous slight. After all, our society devalues men everyday, what’s the life of one man?

That’s why I’m going to remain mostly isolated from people. No relationships, no marriage, no kids. Nobody can be trusted.

“Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you are now bait on a sharp hook for the rest of your life. All the female has to do is make a claim years later, and you are presumed guilty under the present laws.”

I hear you - but we never did have a problem - in fact we got along fine. It was my mind looking into what could happen if we did have a falling out. Technically, she could go after me now, but in this case, I’m not worried.

But it is one of those things you HAVE TO now think about before getting into a situation - specifically, are you at risk of being falsely accused for a crime where there is no defense. Best way to deal with it - send the girl packing, or never let her in, in the first place.

“... what’s the life of one man?”

Well, as Fred Freed say, “Women could run the world just fine without men...until the old needs to be changed.”

“Wrongfully accused”

Yea, sure....uh uh...

We have a cretin here in this valley who must register for life for his prior actions.

He has multiple charges in multiple jurisdictions, been imprisoned in multiple different prisons, tried & convicted for attacking multiple women....& HE SAYS IT IS ALL A MISTAKE !!!

They all lie— better than anything else they can do.
He cannot get or hold a job. When someone gives him a chance, he gets mouthy within 6 weeks, and arrogant...gets fired. No unemployment.

He collects food stamps & is currently registered with no address—as an ‘itinerant”.

That means that he is couch surfing & if the cops are looking for him for anything, they have to cast far & wide to find him. Another travesty on the community.

He tells people that all those charges are wrong——that someone is using his name!!!

Sure they are—just what someone would want to be—a 2 strike felony & other charges person. Who would not want to aspire to that status?

He uses drugs & we think he is dealing. One of these days, he will come to a bad end.
Cannot come soon enough.

“Best way to deal with it - send the girl packing, or never let her in, in the first place.”

One more example of how Liberalism runs afoul of the Law of Unintended Consequences.

No Liberal I know, and I know many of those things, would want to create a disincentive to the helping of a female, much less to helping a girl.

Such are the unavoidable results of abandoning the presumption of innocence.

As George Washington said, “The Constitution is sacredly obligatory upon all.”

Couldn’t agree more - someone needs to write a book about the unintended consequences of liberalism. List the program, the intentions, and the results. That simple.

My point is that if a man were innocent, he would avoid troubling others as a way of making amends, keeping to himself until he rebuilt his life.

If you were falsely accused of a child molestation, would you avoid troubling others or would you try to clear your name?

All sex offenders claim to be falsely accused.

Funny thing, those who are falsely accused also claim to be falsely accused.

If he is innocent and was wrongly accused, for what exactly is he making amends?

Breathing while male. That's always enough for the femenazis to convict.

Yep. It boggles my mind how these so-called civil libertarians will turn a blind eye while some poor sap has his life destroyed at the whim of some crazy bitch seeking vengeance. Same story applies to the families ruined a few years back by some overzealous prosecutor looking to make a name for himself.

I firmly believe we need some sort of a law compensating the accused when there is clear-cut evidence of innocence. It needs to be beyond a “Not Guilty” verdict, and perhaps should be something extra the jury deliberates on. At a minimum the defendant should have all his legal fees and lost wages returned.

I sat on a jury in a sex crime case involving domestic partners. It was stunning to see how far the DA would go to try to railroad someone. All (except the cops) of the prosecution witnesses were so high on the stand that they couldn't form an English thought. The cops invented knives that couldn't be found or weren't in any of the pathetically inadequate crime scene photos. They were snarky with the defense and came off like thugs with badges. No one controlled the crime scene. I could go on and on about prosecution pressure on their witnesses to testify at all. This included the "victim". We were played recordings of the "victim" proclaiming undying love for the accused as he sat in jail. Kafkaesque.

We took about 20 minutes of deliberation (7 women 5 men) to find the guy not guilty. He sat in a jail for a year. I asked the judge why the DA even brought the case. He used the words "it's bullshit" in his reply.

"..So sad, but so true..."

It really is awful. If the child was lying or the EX or whoever there is no recourse. This is like being denounced as a witch in Salem.

Another alternative to hermithood is to keep a firearm in your car (if you have a permit) or in your home. That way you can “check out” of life at a moment’s notice.
