Posted on 05/23/2010 7:58:46 AM PDT by Clint Williams
His face is plastered on the public sex offender registry.
Im not going to shy away from this, said Billy Wayne Johnson.
He did time behind bars.
Im not going to hide from this, said Johnson.
It all stems from claims that Billy Wayne Johnson, a registered sex offender, volunteers at Horizon Montessori Charter School in McAllen.
When the news first aired on Action 4 News, parents were concerned, and after seeing the report, Johnson contact Action 4 News.
They should have no fears, said Johnson.
He claims to have been wrongfully accused.
Unfortunately, I have to carry this label around with me for the rest of my life, he said.
Hes convicted of indecency with a child, but Johnson said what really happened is that his ex girlfriend made the story up after a falling out.
But if thats not enough to calm fears, At no time am I ever left alone on that campus, he said.
Johnson said two of his children attend the charter school, and he said he was upfront with the schools administration about his record, and the school has strict policies in place.
I either have to be escorted by a faculty member or be in plain sight by a faculty member at all times, said Johnson.
As for claims that he volunteers at the school, he said he gets involved with his childrens school the only way he can, working from home designing the yearbooks front and back cover.
I do not go to the school for that, he said.
Johnson said he understands peoples fears, but said hes just a man trying to live a normal life with his wife and children.
I want them to know theyre children are safe, and I want them to know that the school, the district, the administration, including the principal are doing everything they can to ensure those childrens safety, said Johnson.
Sex offenders and wife beaters are notorious liars. If a man really wished to make amends, he wouldn’t do this. But the press is always making heroes out of heels, and victims out of vultures.
I am not familiar with this case but I AM faqmily with being falsely accused, and if I had NOT been able to prove I was not even home at the time I would have been in jail, on nothing more than her say-so.
I even had the district attorney threaten to add more charges for disordely conduct if I did not plead guilty. I told my idiot lawyer to tell him to go ahead and do it.
When my ex failed to appear in court it was dismissed but I lost my house, my job, custody of my children (temporarily) and when I was lucky enough to find a police officer willing to server her an arrest warrant (for filing false charge) the DA refused to prosecute it because “I was just trying to get back at her”.
I threatened a Writ of Mandamus to get him to do his job. And behind my back without my approval they gave her a 6 month ACD (Adjournment contemplating dismissal if she did not do it again for 6 months)
All in all, I lost over $100,000 over this and she got LESS THAN a slap on the wrist, when I had PROOF I WAS NOT THERE (I was in my attorneys office at the time ON THE PHONE with a different judge)
IT should be a FELONY to file a false charge where someone actually sits in jail or suffers financial loss as a result. And yes, I did have 12 black guys threaten me (the only white guy) in the holding cell. Fortunately I am 6’4 and 225 but imagine what would happen to a guy who was not.
That would be the worst crime to be falsely convicted of. You would think he wouldn’t want to be anywhere near kids.
I sympathize with your story. Yet, I find the person in this story a wildly deluded person if he feels that because he can claim he didn’t do it he should be allowed contact with other peoples’ children. If he’s serious he should pursue that got him there in the first place - get his original charge reversed.
Very true. But it's also very true that there are cases where a girlfriend/wife makes a false accusation.Revenge and gaining an advantage are two possible motives for doing so.When a guy is accused of such a thing he will very probably be convicted even in cases where he did nothing wrong. And such a conviction is a nightmare in 1,000 different ways.I've read that today it's pretty much SOP for a woman in a divorce case or a child custody case to make an accusation of spousal and/or child abuse. It's very likely that a good percentage of such accusations are,in fact, valid. But I'd wager that some of them...perhaps even a substantial percentage of them...are false.
His middle name is Wayne. They just haven’t found the bodies.
It’s hard to say. An 18-year-old “man” can be made a sex offender for life for having sex with a 16-year-old girl.
Or perhaps he was 30 and she was 14.
Can’t tell, just from this.
And if you were falsely accused...would your denials make you a liar?
I noticed that too. Guilty!
Chemical castration is an ideal punishment for sex offenders. When Depo-Provera is administered, recidivism rates fall to 5%. Their sexual fantasies are lessened as a result of the reduction of testosterone levels. Although men administered this drug are capable of having sexual intercourse, many people argue that chemical castration is cruel and unusual punishment. This argument is countered by the fact that sex offenders are required to get injections only once a month. What is “cruel and unusual” is allowing sex offenders to attack innocent women and children. This effective therapy will protect future victims. It is an “offender friendly” way of reducing sexual violence. He might be innocent but why take the chance...
I believe this is one of the fuzzy areas of law. By having the state do it, they meet some of the outcry for such a registration; without such justice, there would be greater approval for more extreme tactics done with the aid of the internet.
My concern — and this doesn’t rise to cause to oppose such registration — is that there is often little distinction made between levels of offense: to the public, a “sex offender” is a “sex offender” is a “sex offender”: a peeping tom is no different than a rapist. And how natural is it to fear that the guy busted for being a peeping tom is really a rapist! But it’s also natural to fear that a burglar is a murderer, yet we don’t presume as a society that a burglar is a murderer and punish his as such.
Sorry to hear that. Glad you got through it (relatively speaking). We had a teenage girl (with her mother) staying in my house for a while, because of a problem with their house. She was REAL QUIET and it started scaring me. It then occurred to me that she could accuse me of ANYTHING (if she got angry about something), and had NOTHING to lose (whereas my kids would lose their father, if they tried that stunt).
She was out soon after - and I’ve been breathing much easier since.
Two words for you, and these two words remove recidivism from the equation: frontal lobotomy. By using the right mix of chemicals injected directly into the frontal lobes, there is a cure.
Yes, precisely. And isn't it strange that of all the places he wants to volunteer, he chooses a place where small children are available?
My point is that if a man were innocent, he would avoid troubling others as a way of making amends, keeping to himself until he rebuilt his life. All sex offenders claim to be falsely accused. It's part of the game. But the ultimate desire is to be in proximity to children.
I worked with a man who looked me in the eye and told me he didn't molest his daughter. A jury found otherwise. He claimed to have been persecuted by his ex-wife, who invented the story. His defense was charm, not truth. He's in prison now.
I work as a counselor, and if I had violated one of my female clients, I would have been subject to numerous sanctions and lost my license. How is this guy allowed in the presence of children? Bottom line.
I think it should be the death penalty for false accusation.
If he is innocent and was wrongly accused, for what exactly is he making amends?
