He might be innocent but why take the chance...

You can never, ever, ever take a chance. That's why they should all be shot immediately upon conviction. And if a few innocent get executed in the process, well, we have lots and lots more people. Hundreds of million of them. We can afford to lose a few in order to be safe.

I think I lost a tag around here somewhere...

Perhaps a reading of Blackstone might enlighten you as to why Americans used to make such a central issue of presumption of innocence.
