As I told you a few weeks ago, this November the voters of California will decide whether or not marijuana should be legalized or not. In the article, Legalizing Marijuana, So Politicians Can Spend More Money, I gave my reasons for being against the initiative. After all, the last thing we need to do in California is feed the drug habit of politicians by giving them another product to tax millions of dollars on for their already failed programs. That's right, tax dollars is just as addictive to politicians as crack cocaine is to those caught in it's web of short term euphoria. History has shown us that if a politician just smells tax revenue that they will break as many laws as a drug addict to get their fix.
Well there was a scientific study done a few years back on the effects of certain drugs on spiders, and the results were astonishing. What they discovered was that different drugs had different effects on the way the spiders created their webs. The results from these types of studies should help convince those still on the fence about the dangers behind legalizing drugs, even marijuana.
Now this video has been out for anyone willing to watch it for a few years now. So some of you may have already seen it, but for those who have not, I guarantee you will enjoy it.
I did have a few friends though who seemed to make it their daily cause to get some pot, or find drugs that were stronger. Those are the friends I lost touch with because their whole lives became one of constant problems.
As I said, I smoked it just fun and never accepted the harder drugs offered to me by those who went farther into the experience. Eventually I put it aside to move on, and became responsible member of society.
To this day, I wonder what would have happened to Frank, Betty, Carla, Bill and others I know who now live on the other side of the tracks, if they never first smoked pot. Maybe they never would have tried worse drugs and caused the harm to themselves and others they have. Then again, Maybe they still would be there even if they never did drugs at all, Only God knows.
They are the reason I am against legalizing any drugs, even marijuana. Not that it was legal when we all smoke it back then, but to make it easier to get then it was back then is not something I want to go to my grave feeling guilty about. God did put us on this planet to be our brothers keeper.
That does not mean we should enable their every whim and desire though. It means that we need to be wise and prudent, by making tough decisions. My heart tells me that God would not want me to make it easier for the innocent among us to find out what the bad things I did are like. Just because I did it, does not make it right for me help make it easier for others to possible spend their lives on the other side of the tracks.
They don’t show you the perfectly normal webs spun by spiders given heroin.
I agree with this study. Spiders should not take drugs of any kind, no matter how creative it makes them.
Was thinking the same thing, but also thought that LSD had even more mathematically perfect webs than normal ones.
What I want to know is were these studies for real? Did the Canadian outfit really make this video.
It is a terrific video whatever, whoever, etc. Laughed myself silly.
Well maybe their spider-web making got a little sloppy but that piped in Grateful Dead music starting sounding real good...
... and alcohol makes them spin webs no better than the worst of the illegal drugs.
what about your friends that became alcoholics? Tobacco addicts, obese? Do you have a duty to protect them from themselves too? Maybe we should just put everyone into a cage and issue them the rations that they need so that they don’t take the opportunity to do harm to themselves?
This is why conservatives can't win elections. Who the hell are you to tell me what I should do with my life?
Just look to Mexico!
Mexico has LEGALIZED illegal drugs and prostitution.
Look what that has done for Mexico!
What I see from these pictures is that caffeine is THE WORST DRUG THERE IS. Ban it!
Also look to Holland and the way they legalized all kinds of drugs. Amsterdam as a haven for those who have destroyed their lives on legalized drugs.
Let's look at it a little differently.
God put us on this earth to not screw up everybody else's lives through our own irresponsible behaviours.
Look at the sanctuary cities that have decriminalized illegal immigration. How about SF who told the homeless losers of society to come to SF, we will take care of you. And they came by droves.
You build it and they will come, You legalize it and they will use it. You promote it and the world will be at your door demanding it for free. Eventually our society will be subsidizing marijuana smokers, and be told it’s for the good of society.
Just proves not to waste your good smoke on spiders
you still haven’t justified why you have the right to tell another what they can do regarding something that only concerns themselves. Are you suggesting that there is a movement afoot demanding a right to free beer?
Then let's stop screwing up everone's lives by letting Congress continue to abuse the Commerce Clause in order to protect the federal domestic drug war.
So you say. Why should I have to accept your version of what God put us here for? I could say that God put us here to create the ultimate peanut butter, does that mean you should have to spend your life working on the recipe?
Let me see.
They said that smoking marijuana will make it easier for boys to bed down girls, and get them pregnant,,, IT DID & STILL DOES.
They said that marijuana will make you want to hang out with questionable characters that could lead you into more risque behavior,,,,, IT DID & STILL DOES.
They said that smoking marijuana could lead to experimenting with stronger and more dangerous drugs,,,,,, IT DID & STILL DOES.
Many of the things they warned kids about in refer madness was true. They did stretch the effects while being stoned, but not the dead end of ones life it could lead to.
Why do you not care about future generations? The argument about alcohol is a valid one. Just because gangsters do illegal things does not make it right to legalize the behavior. Murder and theft is wrong, and there is a a whole industry built upon those crimes. So why not legalize murder and theft so we do not have to worry about the criminal behavior, because then it will be legal to murder and steal?
As for conservatives always screwing the elections by our standards that we will not waver on, it is not conservatives that lose elections because of our desire for a Godly society. It is the RINO’s who pretend to agree with us just to get elected, then vote with the liberals once they get elected that are the problems.
Elect true conservatives who will do whats right and not worry about what the MSM will say about them like Arizona and then maybe we will not have to worry about the down side of your fears.
1) Just as it’s disingenuous to say we should legalize pot JUST because it means more tax money, it is also disingenuous to say that we shouldn’t legalize pot because it will just give politicians more money. If that were your real argument, you’d have no objection to legalizing pot as long as it was kept tax free.
2) Sorry about your “lost” friends but I suspect that in the case of pot smoking you are blaming the gun rather than the shooter. Essentially that is what many others in this discussion have also also told you.
The difference is that my "version" accords with reality as we see it around us. Yours (and I'm not referring to your mindless peanut butter analogy) does not.
That's what I noted too.
Indians/Whiskey = Spiders/Coffee
Do you have a citation for this utter B@LLSH!T?
Call it a personal experience of mine and friends of mine growing.
There are way too many boys who have one thing on their minds as teens. All they need to make their fantasy a reality is a little pot, or a little alcohol and soon they will be bedding down the girl of his fantasy. That is a reality has happened time and time again...
And yes, I think strong alcohol should also be banned. And if we are told that evidence proves cigarettes are so bad, then yes they should be made illegal also.
I don’t believe in keeping bad things legal in society so politicians can have more money to play with. All the while railing against the effects to society by these things, just so they can then get re-elected to raise the taxes on those vices instead of outlawing them.
No, lets ban incandescent light bulbs and canned hairspray instead.
So call be a prude, it would not be the first time some libertarian minded guy thought I was a prude.
How does that make you feel?
That attitude is a sure way to force engagement with well armed lovers of liberty who are willing to kill.
We already are.
From time to time, the Washington Post has reported that approximately 85% of the homeless test positive for drugs and/or alcohol. (Most of the rest suffer from some other clinically diagnosed mental illness.) The percentage of street criminals who test positive for drug use is similar.
I have a hunch -- my supposition, no data to back it up -- that if you went through the housing projects and tested the residents, the incidence of drug use would be very high. Ditto for long term welfare dependents. Ditto for those guilty of child abuse and domestic violence. The dysfunctional element of society is a heavily addicted population.
I have long suggested that we require drug testing (and if needed, treatment) as a condition for receiving welfare. If I could, I'd impose a drug screen for voting as well. That of course will never happen, because it would gut the democrat party.
Like abortion and other things I disagree with, I would have to live with it.
But for now I have a chance and a right to vote against it.
Just for reference, does that include making it easier for them to stray from the path of righteousness by allowing them to believe in false gods?
Now, I think the “takeaway line” in that video was to the “marijuana spider” — telling it “Don’t end up as the crack spider’s bitch!”
I think what works for spiders works for humans, too ... LOL ...
Caffeine too, or is it just the pot?
Yeah, caffeine can make one overactive ... to be sure ... LOL ...
But, much better to be overactive than the bitch of a crack-daddy... :-)
A great analogy; the U.S. body politic continues to main-line our nations wealth as it builds an ever increasing tolerance to it. The evitable crash will make a typical heroin withdrawal look like good times. We brought it upon ourselves. What a pity!
You figuring that “crack-daddy bitch” soundbite is good for some traction/mileage, eh?
Hey... did you see that video ... I think that was their line ... LOL ...
So pot should be illegal so it can be kept away from your friends who ruined their lives on it? The friends who obviously had no trouble at all getting a hold of it when it was illegal?
Makes perfect sense to me!
I didn’t watch this video. I saw the pictures and writeup on the experiment when it came out a few years ago. Did they add anything to the original research?
Go watch the video ... it’s actually comical ... :-)
How long/big is it? I’m bandwidth constrained here.
It’s less than two minutes ...
That translates to about 8 minutes to download, for me. Everbody keeps saying “You have to watch it”, but won’t say exactly what’s in it. I’m starting to think it’s Amway.
