I live and work in Manhattan and was shocked yesterday when I heard a bunch of liberal creative types unload on the Kenyan because of the oil spill. They were really spitting mad over the situation. The bloom is off the rose. It’s popcorn time.

I am very pleased to see this. The man needs to be under maximum pressure. It is not only politically expedient, but also establishes clearly for all to see that the world-view they purchased in 2008 (yes, most knew what they were doing, it wasn’t a butterfly ballot thing) really meant. We told them this would happen, they said we were crazy, it’s nice to see we were right. It’s also a terrible shame. It need never have happened, but people just had to be ‘historic’.

On the other hand, what he’s now doing is inaction that is hyperventilating the left. That was his most dependable ‘strong approval’ base. Given they have got to be having doubts now, one wonders if the main number of those ‘strongly approving’ really are right-wingers glad to see him openly fumbling and showing his worthless hand.

Schadenfreude but not happy about it.

trying to figure out what caused this recent surge, and discussed with several people. Probably a combination of events. I felt like it was the stock market drop and signs of continued economic downturn. Obviously AZ immigration could be a factor. Personally, I can’t imagine the oil spill having that much of an impact on his popularity, but from your anecdote it makes more sense. The oil spill must be what is driving liberals to abandon him. Strongly Approve has dropped substantially in recent weeks. He was floating around 28-32% and now is down to 23%. The libs are likely not bothered by the stock drops and likely love his immigation offensive, so it must be this oil spill.

The hard Left is seizing on this incident to try and purge Rahm Emmanuel and anyone else whom they perceive as not ideologically “pure” and not 100% on-board with the Green Neo-Communist agenda. (the Sestak bribe attempt being the other big stick in their hands right now)

The gulf oil spill. Maybe, to some degree, his lackluster response to the border problem by sending 1200 National Guard troops, and his similar ignoring of the Nashville flooding. But the gulf oil spill is a major blow to his image. This is Katrina writ large. And it’s something people remember...

The liberals I saw yesterday aren’t concerned about the economy. They’re actually doing quite well but will have a bit of a shock when the Bush tax cuts go away next year. But the anger I heard yesterday was all about Obama’s handling of the oil spill. They were gay spitting mad at him for what’s going on.

Keep in mind, socialism has two main “Gods”, government and ecology. (I’m not talking ‘rights’ here...). “The One” was elected to office with the notion he would right all the wrongs of the Bush era. And one of the greatest wrongs was the perceived non-response to Katrina.

Well, we now have Katrina writ large (a flood comes, then begins to recede. This oil spill has a life of its own...). And what has “The One’s” reaction been? Little to nothing. Even worse than Bush. It was even announced he was vacationing in Chicago before it was announced he would visit the gulf on Friday. Think of that.

That’s why the gulf has been the biggest blow to his approval rating. Sure, immigration, Nashville, the Dow, all these play a part. But his non-response to the gulf has shown him to be inept and unresponsive when one of the two “Gods” of socialism are involved. That’s not a good move.
