The blogger claiming to have had an affair with South Carolina gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley has posted a series of text messages between himself and Haley's campaign manager that appear to show the two men colluding about how to handle the forthcoming scandal.
The messages, covering a nine-day period earlier this month before conservative blogger Will Folks went public with his accusation against the Republican hopeful, were posted Wednesday morning on his website, FITSNews.com.
"I'm telling you man, we keep this under wraps and nh is going to win," reads one text message from Haley campaign manager Tim Pearson to Folks on May 15.
Pearson and Folks swap worried messages about different reporters chasing the story, and one exchange suggests there may be a newsworthy photograph of Haley and Folks.
Pearson confirmed to CNN the authenticity of the text messages.
While Pearson and Folks make allusions to the "rumor," there is nothing in the correspondence proving Folks' claim that he had an "inappropriate physical relationship" with Haley in 2007.
But Folks has suggested that he has more text messages and e-mails from Haley proving the supposed affair. He has yet to make that evidence public.
FITSNews.com says the correspondence released Wednesday bolsters Folks' credibility in ongoing war of words currently consuming South Carolina politics.
In the face of blistering criticism from Haley supporters, Folks has argued that he had been supporting Haley in the governor's race and keeping her campaign "in the loop" about reporters and political rivals looking into the alleged affair.
Folks said on Monday he decided to go public with the claim to "get ahead" of the story to protect his family.
Haley, one of four GOP candidates competing in the June 8 primary, has emphatically denied Folks' allegation and blamed political opponents for the "disgraceful" charge.

This is not good....
Show us the pictures, the audio and other evidence.... we’re waiting.
I’ve been witholding judgement on this matter. I don’t know enough about Forks or Haley to form a good opinion.
I do know that politicians often have affairs.
At some point, political workers are going to realize that emails and text messages live forever. If you type it, you might as well be speaking live on the 6 o’clock news.
How so? All I see is him and some guy in the campaign talking about something? So far everything I’ve seen looks like a set up and a whisper campaign?
I remember back during the Iran-Contra scandal that the computer people recovered a bunch of erased e-mail from backups. Admittedly, back then there was an excuse for not realizing that deleting an e-mail didn't mean it was gone forever.
If this guy has e-mail proving the relationship, why would he release the weakest e-mails he has? Best evidence to date says this guy ia a attention-seeking sicko.
It only had to happen to me once, to have one of my emails forwarded to the last person I wanted to see it.
I write everything with the idea that someone else may see it. If I criticize someone, I do it in words I would use if I was saying it to their face. If I reveal something personal, I do it with the understanding that others may see it who I did not intend. It changes the way you write, but for the better, all things considered.
She will still win the nomination. She will still have my vote. This is all sleazy politics once again, and even if its true, the behavior of the Pols is as disgusting as her alleged behavior. While i don’t condone this type of behavior, its none of my business unless they go around thumping the Bible to their constituents. In that case, their is a hypocrisy problem. But NH is for the goals of the Tea Party, which are primarily focused on liberty, freedom and putting a halt to BIG GUBMINT. I don’t care if she had an affair with a damn monkey. Flame away. While i don’t like what she has allegedly done, for what i would be hiring her to do, it has no impact.
Feigning weakness while holding the trump card in reserve is an old tactic. If he can trick Haley into stonewalling some more and then produce the evidence, it puts all of the negative spotlight on her rather than him.
No, it certainly is not good for Haley. Advising Folks to “keep this under wraps” gives credibility to the charge.
I won’t flame, and I generally agree that people should mind their business.
But...character is the virtue that I look for most in a person. More than intelligence, more than anything else.
If this woman’s husband and children can’t trust her, who can?
If this turns out to be true, I would be unable to support her.
Lets be fair here. They haven’t had to work overtime to undermine his credibility, this guy has done that all on his own. Besides his battery conviction and his having to leave his post with Sanford under controversy.
He’s doing it all on his own.
Is it possible? Anything is possible, but the guy is getting a hell of a lot more respect than he deserves from the posts I’ve seen to this thread.
Fair enough. However, it would bother me if it turned out to be true after she denied it -- that raises an obvious trust issue.
While i generally agree with you, some of the world’s greatest leaders have been philanderers. Some were alcoholics, some were even kleptomaniacs or drug addicts. It depends on what i am hiring them for and whether or not they can get their job done. While i would never get involved in a relationship with a person like that, i may hire them to run my business unless they have shown weakness in an area which may affect their job.
Whether this is true or untrue, the guy is a scuzball. You don’t do something like this to someone you care about.
Someone is looking to sink her and they are dredging up her personal life to do it. Thats pretty low. True or false, its low. For the guy involved to play along is contemptible.
I agree with you 100%! She has my vote too.
