The blogger claiming to have had an affair with South Carolina gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley has posted a series of text messages between himself and Haley's campaign manager that appear to show the two men colluding about how to handle the forthcoming scandal.
The messages, covering a nine-day period earlier this month before conservative blogger Will Folks went public with his accusation against the Republican hopeful, were posted Wednesday morning on his website, FITSNews.com.
"I'm telling you man, we keep this under wraps and nh is going to win," reads one text message from Haley campaign manager Tim Pearson to Folks on May 15.
Pearson and Folks swap worried messages about different reporters chasing the story, and one exchange suggests there may be a newsworthy photograph of Haley and Folks.
Pearson confirmed to CNN the authenticity of the text messages.
While Pearson and Folks make allusions to the "rumor," there is nothing in the correspondence proving Folks' claim that he had an "inappropriate physical relationship" with Haley in 2007.
But Folks has suggested that he has more text messages and e-mails from Haley proving the supposed affair. He has yet to make that evidence public.
FITSNews.com says the correspondence released Wednesday bolsters Folks' credibility in ongoing war of words currently consuming South Carolina politics.
In the face of blistering criticism from Haley supporters, Folks has argued that he had been supporting Haley in the governor's race and keeping her campaign "in the loop" about reporters and political rivals looking into the alleged affair.
Folks said on Monday he decided to go public with the claim to "get ahead" of the story to protect his family.
Haley, one of four GOP candidates competing in the June 8 primary, has emphatically denied Folks' allegation and blamed political opponents for the "disgraceful" charge.

Other than King David, I am unable to recall any “great leaders” that were philanderers. There have been successful people, but their lack of character is what prevents them from being truly great, at least in my eyes.
Ross Perot fired his top guy at EDS when he discovered the man was a cheating on his wife. Perot believed that if the guy’s own wife couldn’t trust him, neither could he.
It will only be a matter of time until the cheater that you hire cheats you.
Everyone has a favorite email faux pas; I had a buddy of mine who was a CSR send an estimate to our boss for approval, the boss replied that the price was okay, along with a string of invective and angry pejoratives about the client and my buddy sent the whole thing along to the client.
My friend, who was just getting his start in agency business and was really nervous in the first place, literally and very nearly had a heart attack.
My boss, who is a confident and wealthy exec laughed the whole thing off.
The client, seemingly, never saw the comments or never said anything
I agree with you. If she made a mistake, thats bad, and I can see why she would prefer to keep it private. You can criticize her for not being forthright about it, and you’d be right, but you can also understand why she wouldn’t want to spill her guts on the subject and have it splashed all over page one.
But, and to me this is an important but, the people who are using this to sink her are worse. So your choice is someone who politically agrees with you, who made a mistake in her private life, versus someone who doesn’t agree with you politically and is ruthless and willing to stop at nothing in pursuit of power.
Easy choice.
I’d rather a conservative hypocrite than a liberal with no values to betray.
I’d rather have high values that I couldn’t always live up to than some so low they were easy to conform to.
But if she lied about it, well she runs into the same problem Nixon did. If he’d just come out and said, “yeah, so what?” they couldn’t have touched him.
Assuming the allegations are true, and you were a Haley supporter, the choice would more likely be between Haley as an adulteress, and some other Republican candidate. Your decision would depend on how much you abhor adultery and how close another candidate is to your liking.
Yep. It ain’t gonna go well for this gal. She might as well drop out now, than have a slow drip of emails showing she’s a liar.
Here’s betting that Will’s brother, Ken, is in on this scheme.
“Other than King David, I am unable to recall any great leaders that were philanderers.”
Frankly, for the majority of history, it wasn’t considered philandering for a man to have more than one wife or concubines. This would cover most of the great men in history.
Will Folks is the owner and founder of his website, Fitsnews.com. Everything he posts is only on that site, and I am quite curious why, Henry McMaster pulled his political ad from Fitsnews. The so so-called emails does not look to me legitimate at all, Something very phony going on here.
Also, one of Gresham Barretts supporters went to a judge to have an injunction to pull Haleys ad from appearing on TV, due to “election campaign rules”, as posted in the Spartanburg Herald Journal.. So, I would like to see these rules in writing and displayed for all to see. So far everything is only heresay. Will Folks is looking for publicity, and maybe, being paid to trash Nikki Haley because she was leading in the Republican campaign. Also Will Folks worked with Haley years ago, and was Gov Sanfords aid or spokesperson.
Not so much the “more than one wife part” as much as the part where he slept with Bethsheba while her husband Uriah was at war, and then had Uriah killed.
Multiple wives was very common at that time.
Also, Haley and her supporters - including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin - have worked overtime to undermine Folks’ credibility.
_______________
I’m FROM SC. I’ve met Nikki Haley. I’ve met Will Folks. I’ve watch BOTH of them at work for the last 6 or 8 years. It’s not even a CLOSE contest as to who has credibility. NO ONE has to sork to thrown Folks under the bus or undermine his credibility — he HAS none.
Nikki has been above board, fought for the people, worked for transparency in the Legislature, is a Tea Party sctivist, advocate of small government and states rights — DON’T throw her to these wolves base solely on “texts” that could have been doctored or created out of thin air! Are people — CONSERVATIVES!? — that freaking gullible?!
Folks appears to have been working with — or his hand was forced by — one of her opponents; perhaps the one who has been in Washington TOO long. Unless he can produce EVIDENCE that has NOT been tampered with, his word is worth SQUAT.
Maybe, but if there are legitiamate e-mails, Haley has to know those exist and can be produced. She’d be even more stupid than her accuser...and he seems pretty stupid.
