Rand Paul has narrow lead over Conway in latest poll

Kentucky Senate candidate Rand Paul (R) is leading his Democratic challenger, Jack Conway (D), in a poll released Thursday.

Paul, who recently found himself in hot water for questioning the legality of portions of the Civil Rights Act, is leading Conway 44-40 percent with 9 percent undecided in a Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll taken May 24-26.

The margin of error is 4 percent, so Paul, an eye doctor, is statistically tied with the state attorney general. The survey polled likely voters.

Paul maintains a 53-33 favorability/unfavorability rating, showing that his comments about the Civil Rights Act have not caused major losses in support.

Not bad, given the whole Civil Rights Act stuff. I hope he is honing in his message on that. The debates will focus in on that.

This is a poll by Daily Kos the bastion of left wing lunatics. Add 10 points to the spread in favor of Rand Paul.

Kos did say Paul was ahead of Grayson by 10 just days before Paul won the primary by 24 points, so....

I saw a poll that showed it 64/35 Paul. This one is way off I bet.

Rand has foot-in-mouth disease but he will still be a good man in office. Way better than any Dem.

I think it is close to 57-43 for Rand Paul.

Good comment at the link:

The last poll this polling company took on May 10-12 had Paul up only 3 points above Conway, though, so the trend is in Paul’s direction…And that prior poll had Paul winning his primary by only 10 points, rather than the 23 points he actually got. It seems to be skewed to a more liberal demographic than actual voter results bear out.

He just has to learn to keep it simple. Abstract arguments will get spun wildly which is why the smartest have trouble getting elected.

If this is the best poll that Kos can fabricate - suffice it to say, he’s walking away with the election.

No change at all, you are exactly right, despite everything MSNBC could do to hurt Rand there is no change at all. Watch Rasmussen for more accurate polling.

Just goes to show no body cares but the left who were purposely casting this as something it is not. Paul is going to blow Conley away. Kentucky would vote for a dead Republican before voting for an Obama Democrat this election cycle.

I think the best thing for conservative Republican candidates to do is spend most of their time telling voters how the conservative plans to clean up the mess and make everyone's life better;Reagan won by not arguing with Jimmy Carter about the best way to divide the pie or the best way to bake the pie but telling Americans we're going to make more pies ,so everyone can have plenty.

Don't just say you oppose the Civil Rights abuses;if you speak of this issue make sure you can simply and clearly explain how it has been bad for the very people it was supposed to help.
