Did anybody notice at President Obama's Press Conference on the Deep Water Horizon disaster than something was missing in the background? I noticed something didn't look right and then it hit me. The American Flags was missing behind. Why? Behind him was just yellow curtains, and a couple of gold columns with chandeliers.
I went and researched and looked at all photos of many press conferences (not press briefings) of past presidents as far as I could go and low and behold the American Flags stood proudly behind the President or off to the side. What was the reason for this? This was Obama's first formal press conference since July of 09 which at that conference were U.S. Flags present. I am pretty sure this time that they had plenty of time to plan this and get it right?
So, maybe there was another motive for the flags absence. We know Obama (or his handlers) carefully choreograph his image, his appearances... It's why he's so teleprompter-dependent. Surely he and his advisers know that flag issues have been a lightning rod -- even before he was elected. I think this was deliberate. Could it be that Obama really is ashamed of America? Could it be that he thinks he is the citizen of the world which has no flag? Ladies and gentlemen this is very disturbing coming from the office of the Presidency. This is not normal to not have the symbol of the United States and its government in the east room of the White House and it is not very Presidential either. Many patriotic brave men and women have died under the stars and stripes called old glory. This fiasco coupled with the President skipping the laying of the Wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington Cemetary this Memorial Day speaks volumes of the man (or Usurper) that sits in the Oval Office. What say you?

I used “no American Flag present at presiential presser yesterday” in the subject line. They’ll see it. This cannot go unanswered.

My thoughts exactly. Part of me thinks, “This grand experiment called ‘America’ was great while it lasted.” The other part of me thinks, “But the American spirit still lives and will overcome this.” The American flag is an affront to B.O. It’s like waving garlic in front of a vampire.

obama avoids traditional Memorial Day observances and our American flag because he HATES America!!!! He is repulsed by our military and our American traditions, the same way most of us are repulsed when we see a scurrying rat or cockroach!!!!
Obama especially hates the real America, such as Arizona or the rural areas that he said “cling to guns and religion”.
obama is working to turn America into a Third World dictatorship, with him as dictator. But he will be a puppet dictator, ruled by the banksters. So he gets to take many vacations and to play golf while oil spills and unemployment and Arizona-bashing continue, because even when he isn’t working to achieve his evil goals, the banksters and their minions are!!!!
I wonder if I would have noticed. I do get rather disturbed by things like incorrect flag placement, but just leaving it out is so unexpected that I probably would not have noticed. But I really wasn't going to watch.

Analysis: No, Barack Obama didn’t really utter these asinine words. Nor does it say much for the intelligence of a certain segment of the American population that they believe he, or any serious presidential candidate, actually did.
That hand - it’s meant to calm. It’s meant to stifle. It’s meant to clean the seas & raise the stock market. He really thinks he has power - not the power of the presidential office - but personal power.

Yes, that's Occam's Razor, for sure. It's probably the most likely explanation, after all. My interest was in the hypothetical reason if the lame-brain omission had been intentional.
You illustrate an excellent point, however. It takes conscious effort, unfortunately, not to give this cadre too much credit. I know better and shouldn't encourage the sort of mistaken thinking that can't conceive of the truth. Becoming president of the U.S. can't be that difficult, obviously. It's clearly easier than winning American Idol.
Be careful though. As soon as you say he is “the first President” to do a presser with no flags behind them, someone will find a picture of another President without flags.

He has all sorts of bureaucrats working there who are holdovers from multiple administrations that are responsible for protocol. They knew what to do. Obama specifically had to order this.

You are right. I didn’t notice at first. I’m hoping it was the glare of the TV lights...I can’t believe he’d change the seal to “obama blue”. He obviously despises the rich blue and red of our flag, but still needs to use a different tone to appear patriotic.

This seems like the sort of thing that would end up backfiring if we made a big deal about it. Sort of like the plan to show the birth certificates of the last 10 Presidents with an empty spot for Obama’s, which ended after it was discovered none of those other birth certificates could be found either.

I've had a change of mind as the topic came up in conversation tonight, and I agree. This, and the decision to omit the Memorial Day ceremony at Arlington are probably O's way of scratching his middle finger at the nation, since his declining confidence numbers can't, after all, be his fault, right? (LOL)
Yup, you are probably right. The guy clearly doesn't get this country, and he has nothing but contempt for the people he managed to fool into voting for him in 2008.
