Mexico gives nothing, takes much
The Daily Courier ^ | May 25, 2010 | JOSE A. PACHECO

Why do you betray your people?', someone recently asked me. Just because we are of the same color does not make us a common people.

Since the day I was born, I have been an American. Who I am, what I have, and what I have done with my life, I owe it all to this country I call home: America.

Mexico has never been there for its people, and even less for an American like me.

Mexico has never protected me from any foreign or domestic enemies. It has never taken care of me in times of need; it has never paid my hospital bills, never given me a job, has never given me an education and has not allowed me to collect welfare. It has not even given me a mere meal.

But Mexico has given to me the burden of supporting its people, and has made me tolerate its drug dealers, its human traffickers and criminals. We have had to endure many violations committed on us. We have had our national security violated by all who come here illegally; we have also seen murders, rapes, assault, theft and many more crimes committed. Some will say they don't do any of those crimes, that they are a good, honest hard working people. Coming here illegally is not a good way to immigrate; it is not an honest way. While many do not commit any federal crimes, they do take from us, by leaching off of our welfare system, overcrowding our hospitals, and depleting our school system of money that belongs to our children while not paying a cent into the American system.

Since the signing of SB1070, many civil rights leaders and liberals have come out and criticized the new law. If people want civil rights, where's the concern for the civil rights of all those who have been violated by some of the people coming over illegally? What about the civil rights of the murdered rancher in southern Arizona, and the endless list of victims who have been murdered, raped, assaulted, had their identity or their car stolen, or numerous other crimes?

America has become a prosperous nation and has been the envy of the world. And when a foreign government starts demanding that we treat its people with dignity and civility, we first must hold that government accountable to the same accord for its own people. For with civility we have treated the Mexican people, and have received hatred in return. For decades we have looked the other way while a tyrannical government has raped and pillaged its people, a people who with good intentions had fled their homeland to seek a better life here. They are a people who gradually have forgotten what the American dream is all about, and how to acquire it with dignity and respect.

Mexico has very different values than those that I have. If you think that all Mexican-Americans should hold allegiance to Mexico, it is like saying that all German-Americans should still have allegiance to Hitler's Nazi Germany.

So, a common color does not make us a common people.

Excellent! MSM only wants to hear from those carrying Mexican flags, shouting threats, boycotting, and illegals.

Great rant. It reminds me of the classic Jimmy Stewart line from the movie Shenandoah when the Confederate recruiter tells him that he owes the Commonwealth of Virginia the use of his sons because it is their mother.

Retorts Jimmy "Really! I don't recall the Commonwealth of Virginia coming by to offer me a spare titty when my wife died and I had a newborn to raise!"

Meet Steve Montenegro, himself an immigrant from El Salvador and now a member of the Arizona State Legislature.

Here is a promising rising star that the GOP needs to promote! Regarding the phony charge that all ‘latinos’ will be targets of this law.......

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

“He shouldn’t worry says Steve Montenegro, himself an immigrant from El Salvador and now a member of the State Legislature. Montenegro voted for the controversial immigration law which he says opponents are distorting. “That it is a race issue, anti-Hispanic and anti-immigrant bill,” Montenegro said. “It couldn’t be farther from the truth.”

What the bill does he says is give police another tool to fight crime that comes with the flood across the border.

“It’s going crazy here,” Montenegro said. “And the federal government time and again failed tremendously to protect its citizens and secure the border.”

Whenever I get mad seeing some guy who I know is an illegal, I have to stop and remember that there are guys like this.

It points out that real immigration should be slow and controlled with intense pressure to assimilate.

It also means that entitlements like affirmative action for hispanics should not exist, because justifiable resentment against an undeserving foreign populace is the result. They should have to prove themselves worthy citizens like everyone else, especially considering our history and utterly different values.

The 'immigration system' is broken, but we all know why: no enforcement, no assimilation, and Mexican irredentism.

"Fixing it" does not mean amnesty.

“...and nothing but an American...no divided allegiance here...We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.” ~ President Teddy Roosevelt, 1919

Legal immigrants who want to call the US home, do not have to be pressured into getting them or their offspring to assimilate. They willing do so. They also want to learn English and use it on a daily basis.

Contrast this to economic refugees, the vast majority of whom come from Latin America, who believe they are owed and believe THEY should be the ones to be catered to.

Good article, Aunt B.

When the politicians including the top starting being arrested and prosecuted and go to jail; things will change in a big hurry.

Mexico sold us their oil, lots of it. Now that their production rates for oil is declining, they are looked at in a different light.

Mexico is a leech on the United States and She knows it.Friends don’t do what Mexico has been doing to the United States for the last 30 plus years and that is stealing our resources.

I hope our next conservative President calls a spade a spade and refuses to call Mexico a Friend.

Great post, AuntB! And in California, you can add to the list that the majority of inmates in our prisons are illegal, and the millions upon millions of untaxed dollars that leave the state and go to Mexico.

Our community hospitals are broke, most have shut down from bankruptcy. Our social services are overwhelmed by illegals with anchor babies, and no means of support other than public assistance.

There’s a huge exodus from California of the taxpaying middle class, along with overtaxed and overregulated employers.

We’ve already reached critcal mass, and only the most self deluded and pointy headed liberal politician thinks catering to the illegal population will tie up Hispanic votes. Your post proves otherwise! Thank you!
