Bill Clinton’s picture is again a fixture on cable news.
Republicans are sternly demanding a special prosecutor.
And legal commentators are bickering over the finer points of federal criminal statutes on bribery and graft.
It feels like 1997—but it’s 2010. And Barack Obama can’t be happy.
The White House’s confirmation Friday that it enlisted former President Bill Clinton in an effort to get Rep. Joe Sestak out of the Pennsylvania Senate primary has sent the regular players in Washington’s scandal industry to their battle stations – to pick over the very sort of insider special dealing that Obama had promised to make a thing of the past.
“That’s not the image he wants to project right now with all the things that are going on,” said Mark Rozell, a George Mason University professor who has written at length on the Clinton-era scandals.
The use of Clinton as the conduit to offer Sestak an advisory board position is like catnip for cable television and for Republicans who have plenty of experience painting the former president as ethically challenged.

Well you can forget it — they didn’t get Clinton when they had him in 98/99. They can NEVER make ANYTHING stick to him now, much less Obama if Slick WIllie is running blokcer for him.
By this time in the Watergate scandal the press were already asking “what did the President know and when did he know it?”.
Unless this really has sturdy legs this story dies on Pinch’s desk by Tuesday!
That’s what I was thinking. Biden will step down for “health” reasons or whatever, and Hillary will take over. I wouldn’t want to be Obama then. I can’t imagine anything more dangerous than standing between Hillary and her ambitions.

I was sitting in a doctor’s office waiting for a special screening, and asked the receptionist to turn on FOX (because I couldn’t stand watching GMA), shortly thereafter, the ALERT came on saying it was Clinton who had asked Sestak about taking a position.
The MOMENT I heard that .. I almost laughed outloud. Clinton had just had lunch with Obama the day before .. and suddenly Clinton is the guy who’s supposed to be the person who was tagged to speak to Sestak.
NOT BUYING IT!!!!
Somebody in the WH has committed a felony - not sure who (too many suspects), but they have just been bailed out by the Perjurer in Chief and the Liar in Chief.

It’s hardly necessary for ‘Republicans’ to paint the former president, or the present ‘won’ for that matter, as ethically challenged. They both qualify as prevaricators of the first order.
Hmmm...will the eventual special counsel ask Bill to provide a statement, and will he use presidential powers (he retains in a shirt pocket)...to avoid this?
