Drill a parallel well (hole) down 100-300 feet or so (would follow scientific measurements of depth and explosive) and implode an explosive at the bottom of it which would probably do the same thing that they’re trying now but would probably be more effective.

I've suggest powdered aluminum and lead pellets of varing sizes and hardness. Aluminum powder is what was used to stop a leak on the first nuclear submarine that went on to transit the artic underneath the polar ice cap.

The problem is they’re having to go into the side of the BOP with the top some what open and the bottom pushing tons of fluid. They have to seal the top section before they can pump back down hole otherwise the cement will follow the path of least resistance. What they need is a 12 inch frac ball, to bad nobody makes one.

Not quite useless. If it’s crude, most of the oil can be separated. The stuff on the surface is usable. If it’s allowed to separate a bit before you get whats left then the stuff that remains is close to the weight of water and it becomes difficult to find an economical way to use it. These “underwater plumes” would end up in some sort of heavy kiln or a land fill. The salt is hard on industrial equipment especially at the temperatures oil burns.

The golf-balls are to seal the top section where the BOP failed to close, once sealed or pretty much restricted they can then start to pump down-hole.

Do frac balls expand? I thought the traveled down the pipe passing through the larger choke points until they found their right sized choke point and thereby created the high pressure point for the fracture.

Get some bridge-building engineers in there. Determine the necessary diameter for a large caisson, build it, and drop it over the wellhead. NOW start pumping cement down into the caisson and sooner or later you have a capped well.
