The news that some conservative critics were exacting their pound of flesh from a Democratic president for not laying a wreath this year at Arlington National Cemetery certainly was a reach, especially after the White House revealed that Vice President Joe Biden was going to Arlington -- and that the commander-in-chief would pay his respects at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Ill.

MSM out on full swing, trying to excuse their Messiah. So despicable!! They are excusing a long tradition of honoring of the military by the sitting US president.

Three years after the Civil War ended, on May 5, 1868, the head of an organization of Union veterans — the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) — established Decoration Day as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of the war dead with flowers. Maj. Gen. John A. Logan declared that Decoration Day should be observed on May 30. It is believed that date was chosen because flowers would be in bloom all over the country.

The first large observance was held that year at Arlington National Cemetery, across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C..

The ceremonies centered around the mourning-draped veranda of the Arlington mansion, once the home of Gen. Robert E. Lee. Various Washington officials, including Gen. and Mrs. Ulysses S. Grant, presided over the ceremonies. After speeches, children from the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Orphan Home and members of the GAR made their way through the cemetery, strewing flowers on both Union and Confederate graves, reciting prayers and singing hymns.

There is so much else to beat him up with. This is not a big deal. It’s the “scandal of the day” and is inconsequential. Beat him up because he’s incompetent and dangerous and give this one a rest. It’s about as important as if you caught him picking his nose or scratching his ass.

Since his name wasn’t mentioned, I’m assuming that the president wasn’t there for that first ceremony.

The Washington Post says Obama’s skipping Arlington on Memorial Day to keep a “campaign promise.” One of his many promises during the campaign of 2008 was that he would visit Chicago every six weeks or so. He hasn’t been there for a stay since February of 2009.

So he misses "home" while our military does not? Even Clinton paid his respects every single year while he was president. This man has taken so many vacations in less than 2 years serving, it's astounding...

I assure you that his absence is quite relevant to the serving men and women and to veterans.

So let me ask you this: what was the last thing you did in real life, away from this "deathwatch on FR" as you called it, which can be considered true conservative activism???

My mother and father (WWII nurse and B-24 pilot) are buried at Lincoln National Cemetary.

Having this dipshit leftist poseur of a president visit there pisses me off.

I hope some enterprising photographer was on the job at Arlington.

Maybe only two shots: one of an empty chair, another of an empty space among the wreaths that others took the time to bring and place there.

To drive the point home, a picture of Obama playing basketball in Chicago.

I tend to agree that this is no biggie. Bush 41 did not go to Arlington on Memorial day at all. That included Memorial day ‘91,two months after Desert Storm. Bill Clinton went all eight times during his tenure. Ronald Reagan went four times. I wish Obama had decided to attend, but, in light of past Presidents’ attendance, I can’t move this to the top of the list of things I’ll beat him up over.

This is not a big deal.

That was my first reaction. In fact, I said I was pleased he was not polluting the hallowed ground with his loathsome presence.

However, I changed my mind when I heard Dale Somers (The Trucking Bozo on XM 171) do a long rant. He knows his audience and if he feels it resonates with Joe 18 Wheeler, I say pour it on and keep it front and center.

It is a big deal if you are a vet or horrified at his leadership over our current valiant troops in war, especially those who have passed while performing duties under his command

Ths did not have to a big deal for him. He could be at Arlington within 2 hours of leaving Chicago.

It speaks VOLUMES about his PRIORITIES. That is a big deal when a nation is at war.

God Bless our valiant troops and their families.

Translations: "It shouldn't matter where he gives lip service as long as he does it."

Liberals really believe that lip service is an acceptable substitute for sincerity and action.

I don’t know why 41 wasn’t at Arlington in 91 but I do know he HUGELY honored our DESERT STORM troops in the July victory parade. I was there.

Funny how we military never had to doubt his PRIORITIES.

Now, this putz, choosing a “vacation” with a token photo op at a nearby cemetery between golf and barbeque ..... while valiant men and women are DYING under his command........ Phtooey.

I wish Obama had to spend a week (or longer) with our brave ,caring & loyal men & women in the war zone.
That may knock his ego down a peg or two.
Bless our troops today.
They give Obama the freedom that he will have this weekend to play golf this weekend.
Words can not describe how the liberals with the “high Priest of the White House” are so rotten to the core.
