IDF soldiers then reenact how rioters prepared weaponry by using electric saws to remove metal poles from the stairs and other parts of the ship in order to attack the soldiers. The closing seconds of the film come from actual footage found on the Marmara showing the demonstrators preparing the weaponry.
In the early hours of the 31st of May 2010, IDF soldiers boarded the ships of the “Free Gaza” Flotilla, after the ships refused to redirect their course. Aboard the Mavi Marmara the soldiers encountered serious violence when, in a preplanned attack, the activists on board lynched the soldiers with knives, metal rods and stole two of their guns. As a result 7 soldiers were injured and 9 activists were killed.

SNIPPET: “Four Qassam rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel Thursday, causing no injuries.
One rocket was fired at Sderot Thursday evening prompting the Color Red alert to go off. The Qassam apparently exploded in an open area near the town.
Earlier in the evening, two rockets landed near the southern city of Ashkelon, while another rocket landed in the Ashkelon Beach region, near a kibbutz.
The two rockets near Ashkelon exploded around 9 pm in an open area south of the city. The anti-rocket alert was activated in facilities and factories in the city’s southern industrial zone, prompting employees to take cover.
Ashkelon Mayor Benny Vaknin said that security officials asked him to “maintain full alert ahead of the possible firing of Qassams and Grad missiles” after the Gaza-bound flotilla left on its way to the Strip.”

Looking to his side, he saw three of his commanders lying wounded – one with a gunshot wound to the stomach and another with a gunshot wound to the knee. A third was lying unconscious; his skull was fractured by a devastating blow with a metal bar.
As the next in the chain of command, S., who has been in the Shayetet for three and a half years, immediately took charge.
He pushed the wounded soldiers up against the wall of the upper deck and created a perimeter of soldiers around them to begin treating their wounds, he said. He then arranged his men to form a second perimeter, and pulled out his 9 mm. Glock pistol to stave off the charging attackers and to protect his wounded comrades.
The attackers had already seized two pistols from the commandos, and fired repeatedly at them.”

In a speech at the Iranian Majlis, Hamas leader Khaled Mash’al said that Hamas will not stop smuggling weapons, because doing so would be against the armed struggle.
He told Iranian MPs: “Our battle is your battle... Your support for the resistance in Palestine is support for yourselves.
He called on Europe to adjust its policy vis-à-vis Hamas, and to influence the U.S. to do likewise.
He said that Hamas aspires to liberate Jerusalem and all Palestine, and to realize the right of return.
Majlis speaker Ali Larijani said that Hamas was bringing honor to Islam with its struggle against Zionism.
