Gulf Oil Spill: 'This is Literally a War We're In'

As BP prepares to launch its seventh and riskiest plan to halt the flow of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, calls on the White House to intervene are growing.

"This is literally a war we're in," Democratic strategist James Carville told "Good Morning America" today. "There are foreign substances invading our coastline."

Last week, Carville called President Obama's response to what is poised to become the country's biggest environmental disaster on record "lackadaisical."

Today he said Obama was doing "better," but said it's clear BP has lost control of the situation.

"I do know, for too long, they were taking BP's word for everything which turned out to be wrong at every junction," Carville said. "It's all turned out on the wrong side."

He said Obama needs to tell Americans exactly what is happening with relief efforts and why the gulf region is so important to the country's economy and environment.

"I think the president has to address the nation," Carville said. "His legacy depends on what happens with the oil in the Gulf of Mexico."

Carville? “Look at me I’m still around and relevant, available for interviews.”

“There are foreign substances invading our coastline.”

I get it now. Foreign “substances” must be stopped from reaching American soil at all cost. Foreign “humans” must be helped onto American soil at all cost.

Why should the Left care about the oil spill “invasion” if they don’t care about the illegal immigration invasion?

And how, precisely, would the White House intervene? They could take the shutdown effort out of BP’s hands but who would they turn it over to? There are other companies with the expertise to handle it but certainly the Govt can’t do anything to stop the flow short of declaring they will use a nuke to seal the well. Clearly, that option isn’t in BP’s bag of tricks.

I suppose they could place govt overseers onboard all the equipment to exercise full control of every aspect of the effort but that would only serve to slow everything down. However, I think the real reason govt is keeping it’s distance is the knowledge that they aren’t equipped to do anything BP isn’t already doing, sans the nuclear option.

Yep....remember, every foreigner who successfully crosses our border and stays is one more Democrat voter after the next amnesty.

Does anyone really believe it’s about anything other than votes...6-10 million new Democrat voters.

Nobody's shooting at you, Car-vile. Pipe down and let those who are really fighting do their jobs. Especially this weekend.

James Carville, your Democrat POTUS, Barack Hussein Obama could care less about your Louisiana kinfolk and neighbors, as well the rest of the Gulf Coast states. He is a total failure as our POTUS and is as anti-American as any enemy can become. What you and your Democrat buddies and gals should be doing, is forcing him to resign and, if he does not resign, impeach the incompetent, cold hearted, flim/flam man!!! That is what he deserves!!!

Wouldn't it be funny if the only company who had the expertise to fix it was Halliburton?

obama is trying to handle this like a sue-happy lawyer. All he and his adminstration have done is point out that BP is liable for this leak.

The pelicans, dolphins, sharks, shrimp, turtles don’t really care about who is legally liable. I don’t believe they really care about all the legalities.

This isn’t just political. This transcends politics and obama is fumbling big-time. He’s absolutely clueless.

Everytime you see or hear the letters BP, think ‘Barack Petroleum’.

He’s off his rocker. Obviously ignorant of the problems faced, and has no idea what he’s talking about.

How is the oil foreign? It is drilled in our waters. Moron.

This disaster will pass and get fixed. This oil leak is not the end of the world. It’s a disaster, to be sure.

All in all, oil is good and a blessing for everyone.
