NEW YORK--Conservative and religious groups that have long complained about the irreverent treatment of Christianity on Comedy Central have a new target: an animated series about Jesus Christ living in modern-day New York.
It's unclear whether the show one of 28 projects the network listed last month on its slate of potential programs for the coming season will ever make it out of script development. But that hasn't stopped a coalition of media watchdog groups from launching an effort to persuade advertisers to boycott the project, if it ever comes to fruition.
Here's a description of the show from Comedy Central:
"A half-hour animated show about JC (Jesus Christ) wanting to escape his father's enormous shadow and to live life in NYC as a regular guy. A lot has changed in 2000 years and he is the ultimate fish out of water. Meanwhile his all-powerful yet apathetic father would rather be playing video games than listening to JC recount his life in the city. JC is a playful take on religion and society with a sprinkle of dumb."

These cowards are very selective in how they express their free speech rights.
Exactly... how about it ComCentral? Where’s the show about Mohammed in L.A., perhaps living in an apt behind Vivid Video?
Hollywood- Courageous they are not.
Liberals would rather make a show that ridicules Christians with falsehoods....than a show that would point out all the facts about Islam.
The Islamic Terrorists must now be running Comedy Central
Let us know when anyone gets their head sawed off for this, I guess...
“when anyone gets their head sawed off for this,”
Actually, they’ll get awards for their ‘courage’; fearlessly insulting and degrading those who they know won’t lift a finger in anger.
Yeah. They’re the armed gang living on the corner across from where JC would live.
Anybody remember “Son of God” comics in a few issues of National Lampoon? This isn’t even original.
Everyone should e-mail comedy central and say they heard they were doing skits on Muhammad and we were going to report them to some militant muslim groups. I bet that would make for lots of changes in underwear. I bet they would be falling all over themselves to assure nothing of the sort was happening. It would be amusing. If we can't stop them from mocking Christ we certainly can level the playing field.
Rape of young children is still not socially OK so they can’t do that one yet. Mocking Christ on the other hand is just fine.
“Jesus Christ) wanting to escape his father’s enormous shadow and to live life in NYC as a regular guy.”
Not the Jesus I know, who delighted to do his Father’s will. This is another Jesus, entirely.
