Rabs, you know that McCain disgusts me as much as he does you, and probably more. And I hate that the NRA backed McCain and that JD isn't completely trouncing him in the polls. Having said all of that and meaning every word, I do understand why the NRA supported McNasty.

John McCain is the most powerful Republican in the Senate and probably the most powerful Republican in DC. If McCain wants to get something done, it will be done, even if he has to reach across the aisle to do it. I may hate that about him -- his good ole boy networking, and selling out the country to suit his personal agenda -- none the less, I must acknowledge that McCain does command the kind of power that makes things happen, even if its the wrong things that happen.

My cousin and her husband live in AZ, and we talked about this election. It isn't as though either of them "love McCain" --- but they aren't sold on JD either. JD was their Congressman for a number of years and he didn't exactly thrill them. They both loved his radio show and agreed with most everything he said on the air, but as a Congressman, JD"s record wasn't stellar. Now, if it were me, I'd still vote JD just to get that POS McCain out of office, but they are less convinced.

I hope that I am completely wrong, but I have a terrible feeling that John McCain will ultimately die of great old age, while still a Senator. And that really sucks!

That’s too bad.

That does it. With the heads of the NRA over in Nevada holding Harry Reids hand was on the verge of being to much. Endorsing McCain is a bridge too far. I will not renew my NRA membership.

I’ll be reconsidering re-upping with them - and letting them know why.

At my house we have one Benefactor Member of the NRA and one Life Member. We won’t be leaving the organization, but they’ll never get another cent from either of us.

Right now all our donation money is going to JD. After the election ALL our gun support money will be going to GOA and The Second Amendment Foundation.

NRA also backs Hairy Reid. The NRA will never see a penny from me again.

For those wanting an alternative to the NRA, don't give to GOA (they have since changed their name anyway). Give to the Second Amendment Foundation. The SAF is the mover and shaker behind most of the pro-gun rights lawsuits these days, and has been.

I only belong to the NRA so I can be a member of the local gun club. It is a requirement.
