'Jersey Shore' Creator Says Show Is a 'Herpes Nest'
Fox News ^ | June 04, 2010

Posted on 06/04/2010 9:44:49 AM PDT by Sopater

Reality shows such as "Celebrity Rehab" and "Jersey Shore" are so worried about sexually transmitted diseases that they pass out medication "like M&Ms" to cast members, the New York Post reported Friday.

In a roundtable discussion of reality show execs published in The Hollywood Reporter, SallyAnn Salsano, creator of "Jersey Shore," said STDs are a constant concern.

"I do a full medical (for cast members), but I also do a lot of STD stuff," she said.

I bet all the idiots on the show love Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi and Obama.

Fortunately - NJ has a little hope because some people voted for Christie.

From the story:

"The network (VH1) requires me to do stuff with my patients that has no relevance to anything," said Dr. Drew Pinsky, the host of "Celebrity Rehab."

And an ethical doctor would do what, Dr. Drew?

(I have trouble with this guy using the title "doctor")

“The network (VH1) requires me to do stuff with my patients that has no relevance to anything,” said Dr. Drew Pinsky, the host of “Celebrity Rehab.”

I hesitate to ask what they have him do with his patients. Let me rephrase that, I don’t want to know what he is doing with his patients.

If you’ve ever seen the show (or Celebrity Sober House), I think the term we are looking for here is “Exploit”

But, people that go on these show agree to it, so it is “Consensual Exploitation”

From what I've seen, I think you are at least two or three generations too late on that worry.

I found myself watching Jersey shore a few weeks back, unable to change the channel. It was so bad I had to watch. It was like a train wreck. “Cheesy” doesn’t even begin to describe the cast members.

Sadly, these people are real - very real. My daughter attends a university on Long Island and she says Guidos and Guidettes are pictured very accurately on that show.

Not that she knows that many of either (but she does observe them from afar in their natural habitats.) Guidos and Guidettes don’t tend to take chemistry, physics, and calculus.

None of the cast is even from NJ. At least 2 of the guys on this asinine show are facing assault charges locally from beating up customers in bars. I wish they would film elsewhere.

I bet you're right- professionals versus amateurs...

Seriously, I often wonder why shows like Sex in the City don't have episodes where the tarts, err, I mean girls spend time visiting their docs and treating the exotic strains of venereal diseases they are incubating...

Saw one partial episode of this, Jersey Couture and Jerseylicious - the women all whine the same; all look alike with the fake bake tans, fake nails, black hair, animal prints and the attitude.

Never have been to New Jersey but from what I've seen on these shows, if it is even close to what New Jersey is like - they can keep it.

We usually go to Atlantic City a couple times a year for a few days, Usually we just go during the week when it’s not as crowded, last time we stayed over a weekend and by about 10:00 on Friday night I thought I was on another planet.

Clinton’s fault.

Good one! The truth is that many terrible things that have happened were set in motion by his policies and faults as well as Carter's and going back down the line of Dem Presidents. That would be a good book. "The sins of the Democrats coming home to roost. The tracing back of our problems to their roots".

I've never been there, but I'm not surprised after having been subjected to the show. I have heard that the beach in Atlantic City is very nice. Our idea of getting away from it all is fish camp in Maine, which is about as far removed from the Jersey shore as it's possible to be.

Most nights, I can barely stay awake until 10:00.
