EDITORIAL: FTC floats Drudge tax

Journalism can reinvent itself without government 'help'

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is seeking ways to "reinvent" journalism, and that's a cause for concern. According to a May 28 draft proposal, the agency thinks government should be at the center of a media overhaul. The bureaucracy sees it as a problem that the Internet has introduced a wealth of information options to consumers, forcing media companies to adapt and experiment to meet changing market needs. FTC's policy staff fears this new reality.

"There are reasons for concern that experimentation may not produce a robust and sustainable business model for commercial journalism," the report states. With no faith that the market will work things out for the better, government thinks it must come to the rescue.

Sometimes I wonder if we still have a free Country. I know the King Obama and his corrupt communists are killing the Country, but how long do we put up with this before the real Americans kick as@. First we must destroy the Democratic Party once and for all.

The definition of the word “regulate” has changed. It used to mean: To make regular.

Trade was to be regulated, or made regular, so that it was reliable.

Obama is intentional. And yes, violence/unrest would be the necessary outcome of his agenda to destroy/plunder the U.S. and spread chaos throughout the earth.

I’m afraid they don’t either and that scares me. It is the Constitution that makes the country.

I have often thot that the control of the internet and air waves will spell the end of freedom and liberty in this country. Tho the mainstream media is nothing more than a
mouthpiece for this administration, I am very concerned about direct control of the media—or should I say PRAVDA?!!

These people really are trying to create a civil war. They're insane.

The first statement is correct, the second statement isn't.

Methinks they (this admin.) want a CWII. The only problem with their wants, is that we have the training, armament, logistics, etc., and their sycophants don't.

I hope the liberals/socialists/democRATs reading this statement understand, if CWII happens, they (and their friends, families, etc.), will not survive.

I'm sorry, it will have to be that way...

“The report also discusses the possibility of offering tax exemptions to news organizations, establishing an AmeriCorps for reporters and creating a national fund for local news organizations.”

No doubt in my mind that they believe there is no risk in doing many of these things only because they have no fear of there ever being Republican control again. They know something we don’t know. just sayin.

Freedom of the press presumes ownership of a press.
The Internet has made owning an extremely powerful press very cheap, which concerns those whose power is based on presses being rare and expensive.

Hitler had a man by the name of Goebbels that had control of the media. In fact one of his titles was "Director of Propaganda". He got so powerful he became 2nd in command.
It could be happening here.
