There may be a break in the search for Stacy Peterson, the fourth wife of former Bolingbrook police officer and accused killer Drew Peterson.
Illinois State Police are at a private hunting ground near Metamora — a town 12 miles northeast of Peoria — and are reportedly digging for a metal drum that may contain human remains.
Working with new information in the disappearance of Stacy Peterson, authorities are set to dig in search of her body Saturday in an area east of Peoria, sources said. Officials confirmed a search for human remains is underway Saturday morning.
Illinois State Police confirmed Saturday that they are currently following a lead in rural central Illinois regarding Petersons disappearance and have set up a media staging at a location near Peoria, according to an ISP release.
Sources do confirm that law enforcement, using dogs, searched a hunting area east of Peoria Friday. They are set to return Saturday to dig in an specific area.
Sources told a reporter Stacy Petersons relatives are also at the scene.
