Obama Knew Spill Scope from Day 1
First Things ^ | Anchoress

Posted on 06/05/2010 4:38:38 PM PDT by Def Conservative

We’ve just spent years listening to ungenerous, miserable people excoriate President Bush for calmly taking 7 minutes, after learning of the attacks of 9/11, to allow his Secret Service to do their thing and to–with a great deal of composure–take his leave from a classroom without managing to scare the children or give an impression of fear that would be put before the nation and the world.

After watching President Obama take six weeks to process the terrible news he was given–pressing forward with golf, vacations, parties and fund-raisers in order to not scare the nation–even if that it meant he seemed a little disengaged from the BP Oil disaster, I never want to hear another sneering, idiotic My Pet Goat joke, again.

A president needs to be calm and deliberate in the face of crisis, and he even needs to say puzzling things like “go on vacation, go shopping” or “go to the beaches” when it is clear the crisis has precipitated a long, hard slog.

But he also needs to promptly stand on a pile of rubble with the firefighters, or in a marsh full of dead wildlife and and a slick, red tide, and say, “we’re going to respond; we’re going to protect and we’re going to rebuild and restore. We are going to get through this long hard slog, together.”

“The time line on an AWOL president’s handling of the gulf oil Spill

Media fail repeatedly to mention the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 giving POTUS complete responsibility for immediate action in cleaning up an oil spill. Once again Barack Hussein Obama is derelict in his duty.

OPA, among other things, amended Section 311 of the federal Clean Water Act. Section 311 now provides in part that:

(A) If a discharge, or a substantial threat of a discharge, of oil or a hazardous substance from a vessel, offshore facility, or onshore facility is of such a size or character as to be a substantial threat to the public health or welfare of the United States (including but not limited to fish, shellfish, wildlife, other natural resources, and the public and private beaches and shorelines of the United States), the President shall direct all Federal, State, and private actions to remove the discharge or to mitigate or prevent the threat of the discharge.

(B) In carrying out this paragraph, the President may, without regard to any other provision of law governing contracting procedures or employment of personnel by the Federal Government
(i) remove or arrange for the removal of the discharge, or mitigate or prevent the substantial threat of the discharge; and
(ii) remove and, if necessary, destroy a vessel discharging, or threatening to discharge, by whatever means are available.”

“This makes all those golf outings, sports-team photo ops, and celebrity jams with Paul McCartney over the past six weeks feel extra special, doesn’t it?
President Obama and his team were briefed from the outset that the blowout at the Deepwater Horizons rig was epic in scope and would not be fixable for a long, long time.
The real disgrace here is why, if he really did know right away that this was the oil equivalent of an asteroid strike, he didn’t scramble some sort of all-hands-on-deck emergency operation to protect the coastline.”

“Former FEMA Director Michael Brown argues it is the federal government’s responsibility to take charge of the environmental cleanup from the oil spill.

Brown: Lets be very clear. There are 2 disasters going on here. One is the spill itself, the leak on the gulf floor. Thats a BP responsiblity...
The 2nd disaster, which is the responsibility of the federal government is the environmental problem we have resulting from the spill itself, and I have yet to be amazed, I dont know why the media is talking about this...
It is under our environmental laws, the oil spill cleanup act, the coast guard duties, it is the duty of the federal government, to clean up that spill that is getting to the to marshes and the beaches, and thats is just where they have been absent.”

He's trapped himself....were he to do the above now, even your run-of-the-mill SEIU goon would tag him as the phony he is.

I, personally, hope he keeps stepping on his foreskin and makes three or four 'overkill' trips a week down there.

Know what this is?

That's the Obama Administration's credibility spewing out ... every day thousands more gallons of credibility lost ... this can't continue much longer without some sort of citizens' revolt ....

What happened here was a common blow out. The government with insane self damaging policies drove drilling further from shore. Normal blowouts are handled in 72 hours but this one was the direct result of environmental restriction.
The government can’t do a freaking thing. Mother Nature degrades the oil quickly and it will soon be gone, just like the much larger “Bay of Campeche” In the 1979. There 30 thousand barrels a day flooded into the gulf. This leak at the common blow out at the BP site is a paltry 15,000 Bbls per day MAX!!
What could the Government do? Nothing. By statute BP is liable for $1 Billion If they even try to pay more the stockholders will not permit it. That is why the Thug Eric Holder is threatening “criminal” prosecution. What a joke. This was an accident. Absolutely NO INTENT!! Everyone needs to calm down. And drill baby drill or they are going to destroy what is left of our economy. The media is like a bunch of hysterical women. SHUT UP!!

” What has not been previously disclosed: The president was not only briefed on the real-time events of the spill,
but also on just how bad it would be—and how hard it would be
to plug the hole.”

Barry a scant 72 hours after the spill, was on the golf course in Asheville, North Carolina ( for the second time in less than 24 hrs ) and was concerned with only one hole.
The 10th hole.

“In the hole,” Obama urged his ball as it rolled on the green, the sun setting on his afternoon game.
The White House allowed reporters to cover the president’s putts on the 10th hole. “

Yes, the king has no clothes.

As my wife has said to me, why aren’t the MSM focusing on the job the President SHOULD be doing: containing the environmental damage. Nobody expects him or the government to have any expertise in plugging the damn well. But he had plenty of time — and all the administrative authority — to contain the environmental damage.... AND THEY DID NOTHING!

Environmentalists and the MSM should be shouting from the rooftops: this guy doesn’t have a clue! He should step aside and let Bobby Jindal take over the clean-up effort.

Bombshell expose’. The real reason the oil still flows into the Gulf of Mexico.

add this when you send it along: FOX - SOMONE - bring out that the “WON” is/has been deeply entangled with BP for years - and is the biggest beneficiary of BP campaign money. (and he has the chutzpah to say this is all tied up with Bush and Cheney)

The hiney virus was a “catastrophe” according to Obymandius. But the gulf oil spill was affecting good old white boy Southern racists so why should he care? They are all typical white rednecks, according to the affirmative action retard in the WH. Let’s party and eat wagyu beef each Wednesday with rock stars.

And so Sir Paul ridicules our former president who MARRIED a librarian at the most recent WH ho-down, for not knowing what a library is. I’m choking on a new hypocrisy every day, sometimes two or three!

“Never let a good crisis go to waste” .. how’s that for arrogance.

But .. with a good crisis, you can declare martial law and SUSPEND ELECTIONS.

Please tell me that is not the plan ..?? And .. even if you tell me that is not the plan, I seriously doubt I will believe you.

The people are getting too informed and if they intend to take over the country .. they’re going to have to do it very soon .. because the public is getting more and more angry over all the lying, cheating, corruption, and total lack of understanding about America.
