I think I was in 4th grade when we sang this verse. Then again that was in the 40’s, and the big shocker, it was a NYC Public School.

This was a revelation to me - I didn’t know there was anything past the first stanza.

Neither the Wiki nor the good history lesson from Dr. Asimov mentioned Francis Scott Key's nine year
earlier poem, to the same tune, honoring the greatest hero of the previous war. It is still appropriate, although those disapproving the fourth verse so well sung here are on record preferring spitting to its message.

How long now before theres a movement to ban the Star Spangled Banner? There is already! 'Sophisticated' people want to replace it as the National Anthem with "My Country, 'Tis of Thee," because "The Star Spangled Banner" is just 'too aggressive' and 'jingoistic.' I kid you not.

A bigger and better Anthem. Should be incorporated into all Tea Party events. Bravo!

Idiot liberals, if they want be singing pacifists why are they bypassing the options of “God Bless American” or “America the Beautiful” for the tune first sung for King George III, against whom we revolted! Do they think Ghandi hummed it during his hunger strikes in India? The Founders would have either booted them out to Canada or strung them up as traitors.
