HARTFORD, Conn.

Connecticut elections officials are investigating whether Weston businessman Peter Schiff violated state laws by using out-of-state workers to collect signatures to petition his way onto the Republican primary ballot for U.S. Senate.

In a complain obtained Monday by The Associated Press, James Bancroft, who said he was a founding member of the Hartford tea party group, claimed he was approached by a Schiff supporter outside a store in Newington last week and asked to sign a petition. Bancroft said he struck up a conversation with the worker, who said he was from Montana. Bancroft filed the complaint with the State Elections Enforcement Commission on Friday.

I gotta say, I don't know much anymore about Connecticut politics, but if long time FReeper Race is for someone then I'm for him; and if Race is against someone then I'm against him too. It's as simple as that.

random, in case you dont know, Man50D is quite active around here, and professionally, too

he knows what he speaks about Schiff, he has spoken to him several times, and sat through his speeches, too, since man50D is a tea party leader in his town.

what I was told, at the state convention, the first vote pass, Schiff was only ahead of Forras by 10 votes! Everyone knew who Schiff was, only towns who had Forras visit knew Vinny

Vinny had his people give their votes to Simmons to make sure McMahon didnt get in. At least Simmons is a vet who is strong on defense, he is identical to the other candidates on all other issues.

that explains why Forras had almost no votes in the final tally.

Well, then I apologize.

The whole "homos are coming after us" rhetoric from posters in this thread didn't help making their case, though.

You need to look upVinny Forras Vinny is a millionair, too, millionair business owner

CONSERVATIVE

NOT a RINO like Schiff is

Not on economic issues.

Please read through the posts here, I posted Schiff’s own words on this, from his own mouth

he is NO DIFFERENT than Barney Frank on all moral issues.

I'm informed all the issues and candidate's, Schiff is still our best bet for preventing the economic meltdown of our country, it seems to all but be a mute point since the Republican establishment is backing McMann.

I have a very good read on how this will pan out,I've allways had a knack for things here and will make this prediction (obvious as it may be)

McMann wins primary, Bloom wins election.

It sucks as you know but there simply aren't enough people in this state to face reality and give up the Teet of the government dole as well as the unions which will continue to drain the coffers and our future.

As long as this state decides to reward slackers to collect welfare and get knocked-up of wedlock nothing will change.

Good for you for sticking up for your principles. I did not know about his moral issues, but they ALWAYS matter. They define the person deep down inside on all things. The main point in this case is that the law was being broken in a way that really is not much different than the way Acorn violated the law for the democrats. Money for votes or signatures is a corrupt process besides.

So then your position is that homosexuals should be allowed to openly serve in the military? And that the men and woman who serve should be ordered by their government to have to shower and bunk with them?

Do you also think that marraige should be redefined without the consent of the governed?

And that businesses should be punished by the government for discriminating against people who express themselves openly in the workplace as having a homosexual perversion?

Do you believe that our children should be taught by government workers that homosexuality is equal to heterosexuality?

What is the problem you have with people being against using the government to force a perverted morality upon its people?

Why does Schiff need to hire outsiders to collect signatures? Connecticut is a pretty small state. Shouldn’t his volunteers be doing this for him?

Most of this troubles me because their is a serious attempt to co-opt the Tea Parties and to redefine (or pervert) conservatism by the Paul movement.

It is better to stand on principle and to defeat a rotten candidate then just to win.

Morality was paramount in the Founding of our nation. The Paul movement is anti-morality.

But Schiff’s people did break the law, thereby giving Race, whatever his leanings are, the opportunity to report a crime. Some of you so-called conservatives are no different than a Charles Rangel or a Bill Clinton when it comes to ethics.

Actually, the liberty movement WAS the Tea Party before big government RINOS, such as the OP of this thread, decided to hijack it.

Big government right wing statists are enemies of liberty so far as I am concerned, just as big government left wing statists such as Zero are.

Legislating morality and so called “social” issues are just as awful as forcing me to buy healthcare

Thanx for digging this all up. Shame on those who excuse breaking the law to win.

The law is an ass. This is the type of garbage election law anyone could get snared by. Probably a dozen more anyone not lawyered up could likely violate. These laws are designed to let Democrats keep their one party hold on this state. Ratting out Schiff for a violating a law which is not malum in se but purely malum prohibitum wasn't a good move. It is petty and the violation of law is not the reason Schiff was turned in. He was ratted out because someone doesn't like his ideology. It's the type of thing Media Matters is famous for. It empowers Democrats and turned the GOP primary into a civil war.
