Most of this troubles me because their is a serious attempt to co-opt the Tea Parties and to redefine (or pervert) conservatism by the Paul movement.

It is better to stand on principle and to defeat a rotten candidate then just to win.

Morality was paramount in the Founding of our nation. The Paul movement is anti-morality.

But Schiff’s people did break the law, thereby giving Race, whatever his leanings are, the opportunity to report a crime. Some of you so-called conservatives are no different than a Charles Rangel or a Bill Clinton when it comes to ethics.

Actually, the liberty movement WAS the Tea Party before big government RINOS, such as the OP of this thread, decided to hijack it.

Big government right wing statists are enemies of liberty so far as I am concerned, just as big government left wing statists such as Zero are.

Legislating morality and so called “social” issues are just as awful as forcing me to buy healthcare

Thanx for digging this all up. Shame on those who excuse breaking the law to win.

The law is an ass. This is the type of garbage election law anyone could get snared by. Probably a dozen more anyone not lawyered up could likely violate. These laws are designed to let Democrats keep their one party hold on this state. Ratting out Schiff for a violating a law which is not malum in se but purely malum prohibitum wasn't a good move. It is petty and the violation of law is not the reason Schiff was turned in. He was ratted out because someone doesn't like his ideology. It's the type of thing Media Matters is famous for. It empowers Democrats and turned the GOP primary into a civil war.

You pick and choose what regards ‘legislating morality’ and then try to force your version of it on others. Laws against murder are ‘legislating morality’ so I guess you are against them too?

For you ‘liberty’ means you can only legislate something if I deem it not to be ‘morality’. That is the tyranny that every libertarian wants to inflict upon the people.

Ron Paul now wants to make it so a behavior (homosexuality) has Constitutional protection whereas there is nothing in the Constitution that claims so, and in doing so it would infringe upon the liberty of American citizen.

Paul and his movement have nothing to do with liberty. They only seek to pervert it.

Nice try there buddy

To be perfectly honest, I could care less about the government legislating ANY type of morality.

Morality is taught in the home. I know homosexuality is wrong because I have a strong family with a mother and father that taught me right from wrong. I don’t need the government to tell me its wrong

I know abortion is wrong, because I have strong parents who taught me right from wrong. I don’t need the government to tell me its wrong.

I know taking drugs, or engaging in prostitution are wrong, because I was taught by my mother and father that its wrong.

Morals are taught in the home, not from Washington DC, or my state house.

I simply do not have time for a government that focuses on “morality,” in any way.

Morality is also expressed in society. All law is morality. For the Founders of this nation morality was paramount to what they fought for.

To tell people to keep their morality behind closed doors as libertarians do is morally wrong.

People have a right to protect the unborn, to condemn certain behavior in public, to defend their homes and their nation, etc...

The Paul movement is now taking the side of multiple left-wing causes... forcing homsexuality as being protected, condemning this nation’s foreign policy and morally defending our enemies, and in the legal murder of babies as well.

The Paul movement is anti-liberty in regards to life, national security, and on the right to association and the right to representation.

Peter Schiff is a guy quoted over and over in the book Meltdown by Thomas E. Woods. Seems he was helping Libertarian Republicans campaigns, especially Ron Paul in 2008 with economic advise as he is a businessman. The book claims he foresaw the economic meltdown of 2007-08. He, like Ron Paul, is a fan of Austrian school of economics. Seems Schiff has wanted to run for Congress for sometime.

So thanks to his connections to Ron Paul, Thomas E. Woods, and other Libertarian Republicans he formed a cult following from them and the Alex Jones crowd. The Paulbots fueled his run for congress.

Why Connecticut? No idea. Put his hat in the ring when Chris Dodd bowed out. But he has no chance to win there. You knew the Paulbots work out better in Texas and Kentucky.

So Schiff has become an after thought till now. Linda McMahon has become the de facto GOP winner after Rob Simmons suspended his campaign, but left his name on the ballot.

Peter Schiff, had failed to reach 15% of Republican support and was collecting petitions to gain placement on the primary ballot. And now this as the petitions are being investigated.

SCHIFF invests in America’s economic competitors ONLY
NOT A DIME in the USA
how is that smart??

It's called making the best returns on one's investments. Why should he subsidize uncompetitive businesses?

If an American business wants investment, then it should be superior to competition, not expect to be propped up with handouts. If it's a superior investment, do you think he would not put his money there?

Pushing "MEDIOCRITY FOR AMERICA!" gets us nowhere.

I can only hope we can shake up this state (as unlikely as it my seem) and bring it into reality.

Unsustainable is an understatement,as it is we are solely lacking representation at the Federal level, if this continues our children and grandchildren will be as bankrupt as any living child in a third world country

I’m not in favor of repealing DADT and feel we should leave it up to the military to decide.

I’m also in favor of allowing gay marriage to be voted on by the voters and if they want it, fine. If they dont want it, fine too.

But what are you proposing? We adopt laws like Iran and hang gays? How about we just shoot people we suspect of being gay?

It’s also too bad. He’s one of the best economists out there. And while I won’t support someone who is morally OK with infanticide, he is probably correct in noting in the same interview that in any case, the situation isn’t going to change whether he is pro or anti.

Roe v Wade has been the law of the land since 1973, and while we’ve made some small progress in scaling it back, I don’t expect the legality to change in the forseeable future.

I am not for outlawing homosexuality but agree more along the lines of what you stated. I would leave the issue completely up to the moral majority to decide on how it is dealt with in the public.

I would have no problem leaving the issue up to the states barring any federal court from over-riding state law on the issue.

Of course Paul though made a statement claiming that homosexuality and heterosexuality as beahviors had to be treated equally. Of course much of the Paul movement seems to be claiming the same now. It is not a pro-liberty position though. From my perspective Paul and his movement have taken on still another left-wing position.

“So advocating that the murder of innocent life is acceptable if his preferred process is followed is a stand for ‘liberty’???”

Of course not. How is initiation of force against a innocent person (i.e. a fetus) consistent with liberty?

Answer: it isn’t. And this is where a lot (but by no means all) libertarians shoot themselves in the foot philosophically.

The problem with Tea Parties, that people didn’t realize back in March or April 09, was how diverse the different kinds of people would be across the country who would be going to them and running as “Tea Party” Candidates. The problems that have arisen come from different groups being mislead into thinking they all had the same goals.

As such while everyone agrees that Obama’s policies are bad. The problems kick in when people do not agree in the solutions, some of the problems, and platforms of different “Tea Party” candidates.

Thus, right away the idea of a Tea Party might have been a bad idea, in this regards, because it seems the PaulBots who had been doing them prior to Obama, joined the ones in 2009. And as such amid the confusion of 2009, you had people who ran the range of right-wing politics involved in them. Conservatives, Republicans, Libertarians, and even some Democrats against Obama went to them.

The problem therefore is that both the Rinos and the Libertarians are trying to hijack Tea Parties. You have Carly Fiorina on one side being supported by Sarah Palin, while on the other PaulBots have tried to get Adam Kokesh, Debra Medina, and Peter Schiff elected as “Tea Party” Candidates.

And the problem as far as Libertarians and Conservatives go is that both DO NOT See EYE to EYE on many issues. Especially on National Defense and Foreign policy issues.
The PaulBots and Libertarian Republicans want to cut Defense and do not embrace a War on Terror. They want to bring Fiscal policy to the Army and Thus Ron Paul voted more liberals than even most liberals because he supported cutting Defense and thus voted against every Troop increase and funding the war on Terror and invading Iraq and Afghanistan and also is so far out there on these issues he is a Truther.

Thus Libertarians and Conservatives generally don’t agree on those issues. Then if you the fact Libertarians think that everything has to be regulated by the constitution that add another layer.

While Conservatives support the constitution and want it upholded. Libertarians tend to go to and extreme that basically says that even if I don’t agree with what you want to do or have done because I support the constitution I say the constitution grants you the power to do whatever it is you did.

So as such they are always evoking the constitution as a reason for not being able to impeach Obama or whatever.
Thus some PaulBot Libertarians and Libertarian Republicans try to pass themselves off as constitutionalists.

Therefore, my point is There are a host of issues where most Conservatives will not agree with Libertarians. Thus you had the whole mess with Glenn Beck because he plays both sides of the fence. He is the hybrid known as Libertarian Conservative. As such he has offended both sides at times by saying things one side or the other doesn’t like.

But back to my main point, thus the Tea Parties are a bit broken because different ideologies are at play. Mix in dis-effected Obama voters going to them. And you have this current state that we are in as it has become a challenge to agree on some candidates.

The left-wing has to be defeated!!!!

That is the America that I long for.

Considering that Paulbots continually accuse everyone outside of their movement (including conservatives) of being un-Constitutional they should hardly complain when someone accuse them of breaking the rules as well.

Ron Paul had no problem voting to use the government to force our Armed Forces to have to accept open expressions of perversion towards a person of the same gender. The Paulbots want to use government to force their perverted morality on everyone.

Paulbots have no problem accusing America of being guilty and in defending the terrorists and dictators.

Paulbots have no problem defending the murder of innocent American life as well.

So go take your Paulbot tactics of attacking our liberties and join Obama and Code Pink and all the other perverts in your movement. If that isnt sad for you then wear it on your sleeve. At least we know who you are.

and I was part of it

i only woke up and did my homework when I found out Schiff was hooked up with kokesh

So, Sadly, I am part of the reason CT Tea Parties went for Schiff.
