I’d hate to be going to school today, where some places, you’re ostracized or physically abused for not trying it.

Name two...

the plant isn’t evil, as it’s effects are obvious and widely known.

lulling people into a sense that its ok to use and won’t impair your judgment, drive or motivation... that myth, perpetuated by the left, is the evil part with the goal to undermine the moral foundation of the country and break it from its conservative roots.

i expect to get bashed by the pro-pot crowd now... go for it... you are wrong, but are too stoned to realize it. no amount of logic or historical evidence will pull your lips from the bong. you’re a wasted generation and hopefully you won’t pass the attitude to your children... which is unlikely, given that you feel self righteous enough to bash me on a public forum. as such, your self-righteous pro-pot/pro-drugs attitude would have been on display for your children to see their entire lives.

congratulations... you have fallen for the progressive trap and introduced limitations into your life.

My sister was a police officer, and she says that when she came across perps who were druggies, she could always tell at what age they started smoking dope, because their development was arrested at that age.

She's now running an alternative sentencing program for drug offenders, and sees proof of her theory every day.

Smoking marijuana= the dumbing down of America

Actually, attending Public School has had a much greater dumbing down affect. We should outlaw Public Schools first.

When the non-pot smokers on this forum start giving me even a little trouble debating them I’ll consider switching back to booze. lol

Apparently asking for clarity is “ganging up”. Who knew?

A substantial percentage of America cannot face reality without being drugged into stupidity. If the problem is to be explained it will have to be at a 6th. grade reading level since that's about the average.

The limitations imposed by prohibition are worse.

Fixed for you. This thread is a testament to it.

Quite a collection of articles you have there. They are somewhat unnecessary here on FR, though. Do you honestly believe that any serious Freeper is arguing that smoking marijuana is healthful and beneficial? Could you make that argument for alcohol? People here know that marijuana is a vice, just like alcohol, tobacco, and Funions, but that adults can and should run their own lives and decide what levels of risk are acceptable. Even if we accepted all of your cited articles as gospel, it doesn't change the argument one bit.

With regards to the science of the articles in question, I will say that many of them draw conclusions regarding marijuana abuse, not purely marijuana usage. Often we'll see the test subjects as individuals who smoke pot daily, which, to any reasonable human being, is abuse of the drug. Imagine what the studies would say if they examined the effects of alcohol consumption on people who regularly drink a 12-pack of beer per day since they were 14 years old. You assume the negative effects of marijuana as they correlate with abuse are the same for all usage. That is logically unsound and highly unscientific.

Finally, you should bear in mind that, in the end, the whole question of drug prohibition is really about governmental power over its citizens. The government that can regulate what a person ingests in the privacy of his own home, or which plants he grows in his garden on his own property, is a government that has virtually unlimited control over its people. That is not the intention of our Constitution, nor is it the letter of the Constitution, on the federal level.

Gee Mister, what in the world are you talking about? I am guessing that you meant to direct your above comment to another person?

Exactly.

Most of the “horrors” of marijuana are from the abuse of the drug. Not the occasional user.

If an adult wants to smoke, drink, eat whatever......fine by me.
If they commit a crime that harms another person or another person’s property, then charge them with that crime.

If that person is slacking off at work because of intoxication.....fire them.

Their bodies, their lives. In my opinion, this is about freedom.

Their bodies, their lives.

Say what you will, and I'll just add this. Since job entry drug testing in the oilfield, it has become a much safer place to work.

As with all drugs, and I include alcohol, their bodies (and minds) may not exactly be up to snuff when doing things which affect others.

I agree with you.

If it is a place of business and the business wants to drug test for reasons of safety or some other issue, by all means test away.

They should not hire who they feel cannot do the job and do it well.

I just don't think it is anybody's business if someone is drinking or smoking whatever.

Everyone has to live with the consequences of their actions, good or bad.

I just hate it when the “I know what is best” crowd tells everyone else how to live.
