The United States is just the 85th most peaceful nation on earth, according to the fourth annual Global Peace Index (GPI), a statistical ranking based on 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators — from political stability and military expenditures to gun sales, violent crime and "respect for human rights."

The 85th position does not even rank the U.S. in the upper half in the 149-nation list, which was released Tuesday.

But some of the countries ranked ahead of the U.S. may raise a few eyebrows: China, Cuba, Libya, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Chile and the United Arab Emirates

Big fat hairy deal.

The writers of this appear to have attended the same school of no accomplishment that “educated” the Loon-O-dent.

How can this be? Didn’t our usurper leader man get the Nobel PEACE prize? He got it precociously with just 9 days on the job, and has been on a peace tear ever since then! Fomenting peace in Honduras, Iran, and elsewhere.

Take a large number of potential measures of violence. Calculate the weighting factors that make America look the worst, such as count legal handgun purchases as the most violent thing possible because they are much easier in America than just about anywhere else. Presto, yet another statistic that makes America look bad.
